Job description

The Chicago office of Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service National Law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is actively seeking an attorney to join our growing Insurance Coverage and Litigation Practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners on sophisticated insurance coverage matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Our attorneys receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship while representing national, regional, and international insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes across a broad range of insurance lines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
  • Analyze insurance policies and evaluate complex coverage issues
  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, disclaimer letters, and other coverage-related correspondence
  • Litigate insurance coverage matters, including handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, hearings, and trials
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic guidance and regular case updates
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex coverage and litigation matters 

Qualifications

  • Admission to practice in Illinois required; Indiana admission is a plus
  • 3+ years of insurance coverage and/or insurance coverage litigation experience
  • Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills

Base Salary Range: $130,000-$200,000

Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, as well as the candidate’s experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary represents just one component of the comprehensive Total Rewards package offered by Kaufman Dolowich, which also includes a discretionary and billable hours-based bonus program and a robust benefits offering for full-time employees.
