What is a remote insurance consultant?

A Remote Insurance Consultant is a professional who provides advice and guidance on insurance products and policies while working from a remote location, such as their home or a co-working space. Their main responsibilities include assessing clients' insurance needs, explaining coverage options, and assisting with policy selection and claims—all done via phone, email, or video conferencing. This role allows consultants to support clients without meeting in person, making insurance services more accessible and flexible. Remote Insurance Consultants often work for insurance companies, brokerages, or as independent advisors.

How does a remote insurance consultant typically collaborate with clients and internal teams while working off-site?

As a Remote Insurance Consultant, effective collaboration is largely achieved through digital communication platforms such as video calls, emails, and instant messaging. Consultants regularly interact with clients to assess their insurance needs, provide policy recommendations, and offer ongoing support. Internally, they work closely with underwriting, claims, and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Success in this role often depends on proactive communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build trust remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote insurance consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Insurance Consultant, you need a strong understanding of insurance products, sales techniques, and regulatory compliance, typically supported by relevant licensure such as state insurance agent certification. Familiarity with CRM software, virtual communication platforms, and digital document management systems is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly are vital soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure effective client service, sales performance, and adherence to industry standards in a remote environment.

Job description

You don't need insurance experience to succeed in this role. What you need is reliability, coachability, and a genuine willingness to talk to people every day, because those are the traits that actually predict success here - not a resume full of prior sales jobs.

The Lead Model

We provide the leads - a mix of inbound (people who contacted us directly) and warm outbound (people who requested information but haven't been reached yet). You will never be asked to cold call. Every conversation starts with someone who has already expressed interest in learning about life insurance coverage.

Support Built for Beginners

Training covers the fundamentals of how life insurance products work, how to run a natural and honest client conversation, and how to actually close a sale once a family has decided on coverage. From there, you'll have mentorship access and a path toward more than 60 carrier partnerships, meaning you can genuinely match clients to what fits them rather than pushing a single product line regardless of relevance.

What You'll Earn

Compensation is 100% commission with no cap on earning potential. Average per sale sits at $800 to $1,200. Based on consistent work:

  • Part-time consultants: $50,000+ in year one
  • Full-time consultants: $80,000 to $300,000+ in year one

Pay is issued on a daily/weekly cadence, and additional performance-based incentives are available for consultants who hit certain production benchmarks.

What We Require

  • U.S. residency
  • A clean background check
  • A Life & Health insurance license, or the willingness to obtain one - we'll support you through this if you're starting without one

Interested?

If reliability and coachability describe you better than "extensive sales background" does, apply and let's talk - we're building our consultant team now and reviewing candidates on a rolling basis.
