Job description

  • Hybrid position, can work remotely but needs to be on site periodically and as needed
  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • The Health Information Management Coding Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the Berkshire Health System  acute care coding areas which include inpatient, outpatient, emergency and critical access coding

       

      The Coding Manager is responsible for leading coding operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, supporting education and documentation quality, and driving process improvement across the coding function. The role blends technical coding expertise, regulatory knowledge, and strong leadership to maintain the integrity of coded data and support the revenue cycle.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:

        • 5 years of Medical Record experience, with a minimum of 3 years of progressive supervisory experience required.

    • Education and Training:

        • Five years of acute care coding experience in multiple areas such as (Emergency Department, Inpatient, Ambulatory Surgery, Observation, Outpatient) required

        • 2+ years of coding supervisory experience required

    • License, Certification & Registration:
      •  

        • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist required


        • HIM (RHIA or RHIT) preferred
