Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing infection prevention and control processes across the enterprise. Develops and implements systems to monitor infection risks and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Conducts surveillance, analyzes data, and reports healthcare-acquired infections to support patient and staff safety. Educates team members, develops policies, and leads process improvement initiatives to minimize infection risks. Collaborates with internal and external partners to maintain scientific quality and regulatory compliance in all infection prevention activities.
Essential Functions
โ€ข Conducts ongoing surveillance, investigation, and documentation of hospital-acquired and nosocomial infections using CDC criteria.
โ€ข Collects, analyzes, trends, and reports infection control data to stakeholders and leadership.
โ€ข Leads and participates in investigations of infection outbreaks and collaborates with public health authorities.
โ€ข Develops, implements, and evaluates infection prevention programs, plans, and policies.
โ€ข Assesses and monitors environmental controls through rounds and high-risk area surveillance.
โ€ข Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards for infection prevention and reporting.
โ€ข Educates and trains staff, leadership, and committees on infection prevention strategies and best practices.
โ€ข Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison for infection prevention across multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
โ€ข Prepares and presents infection control reports, agendas, and educational materials for committees and teams.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, or a related field
Master's degree in nursing is preferred
Experience Requirement
2-3 years of experience in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
Certifications & Licensures
Current active licensure as a Registered Nurse or relevant clinical professional license based on educational degree
Certified Infection Control (CIC) certification preferred
