Job description

JOB SUMMARY

To provide Specialized Academic Instruction to students in grades K-12 and to assist in other school programs. You will be responsible for designing each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP) and / or Specialized Academic Instruction, and responsible for implementation of IEP goals. Also to provide instructional program for students in accordance with IEP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops and teaches skills and knowledge in the assigned areas utilizing the course syllabi adopted by the Governing Board

• To allow for and encourage flexibility, teachers may develop individualized performance goals and objectives that are correlated and aligned with the adopted course syllabi

• Develops and implements daily written lesson plans that are correlated and aligned to the District-approved course syllabi, and follow the District-approved lesson plan format

• Provides for individualized and/or grouped instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes and cultural backgrounds

• Writes and facilitates IEPs (Initial, Annual, Triennial)

• Instruct students in communication skills and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers

• May be responsible for conducting academic assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary psychoeducational evaluation

• Evaluates student performance according to the student's progress in relation to clearly stated goals and objectives

Schedules and conducts IEP meetings in compliance with state and local laws and regulations, and writes subsequent and related reports in a timely manner

• Provides student progress reports in accordance with the adopted school grading policy

• Exhibits professional cooperation with school personnel as shown through following proper channels of communications, filing of reports, willingness to participate on committees, and participation in curriculum and other departmental programs

QUALIFICATIONS

• CLAD / BCLAD or equivalent required

• Must hold or in process of obtaining a valid California Education Specialist (Mild / Moderate or Mod / Severe) credential that authorizes service in the position for which applying

• Must be familiar with SEIS, Google Suite, Zoom, and the provision of SAI in the virtual setting

• Must reside in California

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed primarily virtual or in home environment or public place

• Must have 20-25 hours per week available during business hours to serve students (required)
