Work Environment

This position operates in a fully remote setting, providing flexibility and the ability to connect with clients from the comfort of their homes. You will work within the framework of school counseling, providing critical support services to students during school hours. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality counseling and psychotherapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families dealing with various mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
• Create tailored treatment plans that address the unique needs and goals of each client, ensuring a client-centered approach.
• Advocate on behalf of clients by connecting them with essential resources, including housing services, financial assistance, and additional social support systems.
• Facilitate crisis intervention sessions for clients facing acute mental health situations, including suicidal ideation or severe emotional distress.
• Engage in community-oriented educational initiatives to promote mental health awareness and combat stigma, thereby enhancing community support for mental wellness.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state requirements.
• Receive continual professional development and mentorship opportunities aimed at fostering both clinical skills and personal growth.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role will be individual students and their families within the Poquoson school district. You will be addressing diverse emotional and social issues that impact students' academic performance and overall well-being. By focusing on a culturally competent, empathetic approach, you will ensure that all clients feel understood and supported, regardless of their backgrounds.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Possess an active and appropriate Virginia License (LCSW) with the ability to practice independently.
• A strong, compassionate approach to client care, emphasizing cultural competence and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families, particularly within a school or community setting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to also work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities necessary for documentation and collaboration.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum two years of clinical experience in a social work setting, preferably with a focus on children and adolescents.
• Experience working within a school environment and familiarity with educational systems and challenges.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems for case documentation and management.
