POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Red Peak Technical Services, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has an opportunity for a Technical Writer II. This position will support the F5 Adversary FST technical publication sustainment using FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat suite.
This position is remote within the United States. Pay rate depends on county and state of residence based on current, incorporated wage determinations.
  • Work as an integral part of an existing technical publication team to produce technical manual changes, modified revisions, conversions, and/or new manual development for NAVAIR using Adobe Suite, FrameMaker, Illustrator, and Photoshop software.
  • In support of the technical publication updates, will create illustrations from source and edit existing graphics and wiring diagrams; perform Quality Assurance (QA) review of technical publication technical data for compliance to military specficiations and standards.
  • Perform QA review for consistency, usability, and accuracy of data and prepare, as needed, technical publication PDF conversion, linking, and bookmarking according to Naval Air Technical and Engineering Command (NATEC) PDF Conversion Guidelines.
  • The Technical Writer II should be familiar with or have working knowledge of technical publication styles and formatting for work package and conventional style technical publications for aircraft systems.
  • This position will report to the technical lead of the F5 contractor team and will primarily be involved in the QA of deliverables.
  • May assist with managing the personnel, workload, and tasks.
  • Responsible to monitor the POA&M for deliverables due to QA and ensure completion to make on time deliveries.
  • Will work closely with the technical lead to develop consistency and training on the FrameMaker technical publication updates.

Payrate: $32.72 to $36.21 Hourly
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor's degree of equivalent study in a subject matter field or combination of fields pertinent to the position such as English, communications, technology, technical writing, or the equivalent experience, i.e., any combination of undergraduate study/experience where two (2) years of experience in the required areas equal one (1) year of academic proficiency.
  • Requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a technical writer of military specifications, standards, and technical manuals.
  • Experience must include using Adobe Suite, FrameMaker, Illustrator, and Photoshop software in providing technical writing and document support to technical and management level personnel.
  • Must be an US Citizen
  • Must have experience in:
    • Developing, updating, and QA of technical publications using Adobe Suite, FrameMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat software suite. This includes experience utilizing FrameMaker templates and managing unstructed and/or structured content via XML/SGML, as needed.
    • Managing large volumes of manual content, master pages, cross-references, and conditional text for different equipment configurations.
    • Graphics standardization by adhering to line weights, scaling, and formatting rules mandated by military specifications.
    • Image optimization by modifying, cropping, and cleaning up enginereering photos or field imagery to ensure high print and digital contrast.
    • Documenting, planning, support and writing for project, presentation, and proposal related work, usually of a highly technical content.
    • Supporting the engineering, management, and administrative staff in organizing, assembling, and writing technical proposals, presentations, and related materials,
    • Deliverables experience processing Technical Manual Deficiency/Evaluation Reports (TMSDRs/IRACs) and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs).
  • Knowledge and experience with the following is preferred:
    • Technical publication experience in particular to NAVAIR standards and specifications.
    • Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) familiarity with the proper handling, marking, and tracking.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Must have reliable at-home internet.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be able to complete tasks on time and manage workload independently.
    • Must be able to work 40 hours per week on a consistent basis.
