What is a remote holistic nutritionist?

A Remote Holistic Nutritionist is a certified professional who provides nutrition and wellness guidance through virtual platforms such as video calls, phone calls, or online messaging. Unlike traditional nutritionists who work face-to-face, remote holistic nutritionists help clients from any location by focusing on the whole person, including their diet, lifestyle, mental health, and environment. They create personalized nutrition plans and offer ongoing support to help clients achieve optimal health and well-being. This approach often incorporates natural, whole foods, stress management, and other holistic practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote holistic nutritionist?

To thrive as a Remote Holistic Nutritionist, you need a solid background in nutrition science, holistic health principles, and an accredited certification such as a Certified Holistic Nutritionist (CHN) or equivalent. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, nutrition analysis software, and secure communication tools is typically required. Outstanding active listening, empathy, and motivational interviewing skills help you effectively engage and support clients in a virtual environment. These competencies are vital for building trust, providing tailored wellness guidance, and ensuring client progress in a remote setting.

What are some common challenges faced by remote holistic nutritionists when working with clients online?

Remote holistic nutritionists often encounter challenges in building strong client relationships and ensuring accountability due to the lack of in-person interaction. Maintaining clear communication, providing personalized support, and adapting recommendations to each client's unique lifestyle can require extra effort in a virtual setting. However, leveraging digital tools for video consultations, progress tracking, and resource sharing helps bridge these gaps and allows for flexible, client-centered care. Staying proactive in follow-ups and creating interactive educational materials can further enhance client engagement and success.

Job description

Healthier Tomorrows, a nutrition practice based in Chicago, is looking for registered dietitians to join our team! We offer individualized, evidenced-based and compassionate nutrition counseling to clients throughout the country. Our outpatient practice has been thriving for 17 years, and we are looking for registered dietitians, with experience and passion for functional nutrition and wellness, who would like to be a part of our mission of hope and healing!
We are seeking registered dietitians who:
  • Have experience and commitment to high quality and individualized nutrition counseling
  • Enjoy working virtually but want to be part of a team of RDs for support and connection - to have the feel of being a part of a practice of dietitians while working from home!
  • Enjoy collaborating with outpatient clinicians to provide comprehensive care
  • Wish to be a part of a cohesive team of dietitians with the same mission, supporting clients on their wellness journey and would like to continue to learn and grow clinically and professionally
  • Feel energized by working 1:1 with clients with a variety of clinical presentations, with a focus on holistic and functional wellness

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Providing comprehensive nutrition assessments and ongoing nutrition support and counseling through individualized 1:1 client sessions
  • Building rapport and creating a space for regular and consistent nutrition sessions
  • Providing dietary, lifestyle, and other treatment recommendations
  • Collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and other professionals
  • Completing clinical documentation of client sessions

Education / Experience / Certifications:
  • Registered dietitian licensed to practice in their home state
  • 1-2 years nutrition counseling experience and/or a specialized functional training certification
  • Excellent communication skills

Benefits:
  • Competitive pay
  • Schedule flexibility - have as large of a caseload as you want, or be part-time if preferred
  • Support in building a caseload that brings you fulfillment
  • Opportunity to utilize Measurement Based Care to support your clients' work and their progress
  • Choice in the clinical areas you would like to focus on and the opportunity to specialize
  • Full administrative support - scheduling, billing, reminders, care coordination
  • Structured onboarding and training program
  • AI supported documentation - charting is quick and efficient
  • Many opportunities for clinical and career development and growth
  • Supportive environment
  • Case consultation and clinical supervision provided
  • Monthly trainings on a variety of topics to support clinical growth, CEUs are provided
  • Medical/vision/dental available
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • PTO
  • Long term disability insurance
  • Paid parental leave
  • Our practice is completely led by experienced registered dietitians who are committed to supporting dietitians and our profession!

From our current team:
"Amazing work environment, great leadership, work life balance is incredible! There is the best supportive team here."
"I appreciate having total autonomy over my workload/client sessions, while also having the complete support of a team behind me. I feel this support with more complex clients through case consults and monthly trainings with my supervisor, as well as through administration with task reinforcement. I have felt well trained, able to ease into a growing caseload without concerns of how to perform/properly do my job."
"The past two years at Healthier Tomorrows have truly been such an amazing experience for me both personally and professionally. This role helped me grow so much as a dietitian and really helped me find my passion for functional nutrition. I've learned so much, gained so much confidence, and always felt encouraged to continue growing."
