• Mental Health Assessments: Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations for elderly clients, assessing their emotional and psychological needs to create individualized care plans.
• Counseling Services: Provide both individual and group counseling sessions targeting emotional difficulties related to aging, transitions, and loss. Facilitate discussions and coping strategies in group settings to foster community and support among clients.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including doctors and social workers, to develop and implement holistic care plans that consider each client's mental and physical health.
• Educational Outreach: Advocate for client needs by educating family members and staff about strategies that promote the emotional well-being of elderly individuals.
• Grief Counseling: Support clients and their families through loss and end-of-life issues, providing tools and guidance on navigating these complex emotions.
• Cognitive Interventions: Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at enhancing mental agility and improving overall mental health outcomes for elderly clients.

As a Geriatric Mental Health Counselor, you will primarily serve elderly clients dealing with life changes, chronic illnesses, loss of loved ones, and other age-related issues. Our clients bring diverse backgrounds and needs, enriching the supportive environment we cultivate within our practice.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or related mental health support roles.
• In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices tailored for elderly clients, as well as methodologies to enhance mental well-being.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effectively engaging with clients and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in conducting mental health assessments and developing personalized treatment plans.
• A commitment to ethical standards in mental health practice, particularly within geriatric populations.

• Specialized training or certification in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues is highly desirable.
• Experience with group therapy facilitation and cognitive behavioral techniques.
• Capacity to navigate complex family dynamics and provide educational resources to family members.
