Position Overview

Peaceful Moments Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our innovative team. In this full-time remote position, you will be primarily focused on providing specialized mental health support and therapeutic interventions for individuals struggling with the effects of trauma.

About the Organization

At Peaceful Moments Counseling Services, located in Syracuse, New York, we pride ourselves on being a community-driven health clinic that emphasizes the importance of mental well-being. Our mission is to create a nurturing and safe environment where trauma survivors can access effective, compassionate care. We specialize in various trauma-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma, and we strive to promote healing and recovery through evidence-based practices.

Work Environment

This position operates within a flexible remote setting, designed to support both our team members and clients. While our therapists work primarily from home, they are still integrated into a robust community health framework that encourages collaboration and open communication. We offer a supportive atmosphere that enables our therapists to thrive and focus on what truly matters: patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed trauma-informed mental health assessments through virtual consultations to evaluate patients' trauma histories and collaboratively identify suitable treatment approaches.
  • Develop and tailor individualized treatment plans that emphasize recovery from trauma and resilience building, incorporating patient feedback and progress.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) during online therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients process their trauma, build coping strategies, and promote emotional healing.
  • Work in tandem with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, utilizing telehealth techniques to assist patients promptly.
  • Deliver educational resources to patients and their families regarding trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of all patient interactions in compliance with legal and ethical standards using our electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Engage in ongoing case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities focused on advancing trauma-informed care methodologies.
  • Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in trauma therapy to enhance clinical effectiveness and improve patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily caters to individuals affected by trauma-related issues, including those diagnosed with PTSD, dissociative disorders, and complex trauma. By using trauma-informed techniques and showing cultural sensitivity, you will play a crucial role in their recovery journey. Your professional insights will guide clients toward better mental health through appropriate treatment modalities.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment approaches.
  • Experience delivering trauma-focused therapeutic interventions is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating compassion and a non-judgmental approach to patient care.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations with composure and calmness.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, we highly value applicants who are eager to develop their skills in trauma therapy. Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team are beneficial traits in candidates.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 90,000 to 110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive pay, we offer:

  • A comprehensive healthcare benefits package to support your overall well-being.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions to assist you in planning for the future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay, allowing you to recharge and maintain work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage for peace of mind.
  • Opportunities for ongoing education and support for professional development, ensuring you stay at the top of your field.
  • A collaborative work environment that promotes personal and professional growth.

At Peaceful Moments Counseling Services, we encourage continuous growth and development within our trauma-informed practice. As new therapeutic techniques evolve and our practice expands, there will be numerous opportunities for career advancement, specialization, and building leadership roles within the organization.
