Position Overview

This is an opportunity for a field-driven professional who thrives balancing client relationships, fast-paced estimating, and hands-on project evaluation. As an Estimator – Environmental Services, you will serve as a key representative across the Chicagoland region, performing on-site assessments, developing project proposals, and helping expand the firm’s referral network throughout the local contractor and property services community.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy and wants to operate beyond a traditional desk-based estimating environment. You’ll spend your time in the field meeting clients, evaluating projects, building partnerships, and contributing directly to the growth of the business. Whether you come from environmental services, construction, restoration, or a strong sales background, the firm provides the training, support, and career growth opportunities needed to succeed long term.

Core Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout the greater Chicagoland region to conduct on-site evaluations for residential and light commercial environmental service projects
  • Perform approximately four site estimates per day within a regional travel radius
  • Prepare and deliver detailed same-day proposals utilizing Microsoft Word and PDF documentation
  • Assess project scope, building systems, labor requirements, materials, permits, and environmental remediation needs
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with contractors, flooring companies, HVAC professionals, and related industry partners
  • Support business development efforts by identifying partnership and lead-generation opportunities within the local market
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental compliance standards and regulations
  • Participate in monthly office meetings and provide occasional office support as needed
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, estimate tracking, and communication with internal teams and customers
  • Represent the firm professionally within the field while delivering strong customer service and responsiveness

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of sales, estimating, or customer-facing field experience
  • Industry Exposure: Familiarity with residential construction, building systems, environmental services, restoration, or remediation preferred
  • Education: Associate degree or at least two years of college coursework required; construction management or architecture coursework preferred
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build client relationships effectively
  • Travel: Reliable personal vehicle, valid Illinois driver’s license, and willingness to travel locally throughout the Chicagoland region
  • Organization: Strong time-management, follow-through, and multitasking abilities within a fast-paced environment
