Job Description

Sequoia Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to support our construction operations. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy construction equipment in the field to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation on job sites.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced field environment. Experience with Caterpillar equipment is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy construction equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures to minimize downtime
  • Complete preventive maintenance to improve reliability and equipment life
  • Repair or replace defective components in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Coordinate with site supervisors on scheduled and emergency repairs
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations
  • Order and manage tools and replacement parts as needed
  • Utilize CAT SIS and ET systems (preferred)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or related field
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid drivers license with a good driving record (CDL Class B preferred)
  • Willingness to travel, including frequent overnight stays
  • Physically capable of performing field repairs in varying weather and job site conditions
  • Vocational or technical school training preferred
  • Relevant certifications a plus
  • Possess or willing to obtain a DOT medical card
  • Welding experience is a plus
