Psychiatric nursing is the care of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of settings, helping prepare patients and families for safe discharge and therapeutic continuum of care. Psychiatric nurses adapt the nursing process to include deโ€escalation skills, safety, assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of human responses when caring for patients. Education and Licenses Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse (KSBN); multistate license allowing practice in Kansas. Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required within 90 days; additional RQI's may be required within 90 days.
