Job description

New Hampshire Housing’s mission is to promote, finance, and support housing solutions for the people of New Hampshire. We have empowered over 55,000 families to achieve their dream of homeownership and have played a pivotal role in funding the development of over 16,000 multifamily housing units. Our dedicated team manages thousands of Housing Choice Vouchers annually.

We’re on a mission, and we want your expertise!

Are you someone who takes pride in spotting the details others might miss? Do you have experience with housing inspections and want your work to make a real impact across New Hampshire communities?

We’re looking for a Multifamily Housing Inspector to help ensure the quality, safety, and long-term viability of properties across our statewide portfolio.

As a Multifamily Housing Inspector, you will play a key part in preserving affordable housing throughout the granite state. In this role, you will:

  • Independently plan and conduct thorough, on-site reviews of multifamily properties across New Hampshire, ensuring compliance with program requirements, codes, and standards while applying a sharp eye for detail.
  • Collaborate closely with Asset Management to identify and assess physical condition concerns that impact risk, sustainability, and resident safety, including targeted inspections of higher-risk or underperforming properties.
  • Administer the third-party Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) inspection process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Turn findings into clear, actionable guidance by preparing concise inspection reports, responding to owner inquiries, and providing practical direction to property owners and management teams on compliance requirements, inspection results, and corrective actions.

To support onboarding and training, the initial months of employment will be conducted in-office. Following this period, remote work may be available on an intermittent basis, as determined by the manager.

Your experience, skills, and education should include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of building codes and safety regulations and the unique characteristics as applied to multifamily housing inspections. National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) training preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interpret federal regulations and state laws related to rental property.
  • Strong ability to translate complex information into common terms.
  • Confident of abilities to speak with authority and skillfully handle confrontations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least five years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

You’ll love us because:

  • We prioritize our employees and invest in policies, benefits, and a workplace culture that supports their success.
  • You’ll join a collaborative, highly engaged team that values diverse perspectives.
  • We are a recognized leader in the affordable housing industry and take pride in the quality and impact of our work.

New Hampshire Housing is proud to offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Multiple high-quality health insurance options
  • Vision plan
  • Employer-paid dental plan
  • Employer-paid disability insurance
  • Employer-paid life insurance
  • Undergrad and Graduate tuition reimbursement
  • Student loan repayment assistance
  • Two retirement plans with employer contributions to both
  • Flexible work schedules with remote/hybrid work options
  • Generous and flexible PTO plan
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Paid parental leave
  • Fitness rewards and reimbursement programs
  • And so much more!

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, New Hampshire Housing is committed to building a workforce that is as diverse as the people we serve.

Starting Pay: $55,000 - $75,000 dependent on relevant experience

Apply now and become a key player in our mission to provide affordable housing solutions in New Hampshire.
