Job description

Location: Hedwig Village, TexasEmployment Type: Part-Time, As-Needed (Hourly) - $50 an hourPosition Overview:
Aoka is seeking an experienced Registered Sanitarian (RS) / Health Inspector to provide health inspection services for the City of Hedwig Village, Texas. This position will be responsible for conducting inspections of food establishments and other applicable facilities located within the Hedwig Village jurisdiction.
The inspector will perform routine, unannounced (surprise), complaint-based, follow-up, and reinspection activities to help ensure compliance with applicable local and state health, sanitation, hygiene, and food safety regulations.Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and unannounced inspections of food establishments located within the Hedwig Village jurisdiction.
  • Perform complaint-based inspections and investigations as assigned.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections and reinspections to verify that previously identified violations have been corrected.
  • Inspect temporary events, special venues, public facilities, and other establishments as required by the City.
  • Evaluate compliance with applicable food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and public health requirements.
  • Identify, document, and communicate violations in accordance with applicable local and state regulations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate inspection reports using Aoka's proprietary inspection software.
  • Educate food establishment operators and responsible parties on corrective actions, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and submit inspection findings in a timely manner.
  • Communicate professionally with City staff, business owners, operators, and members of the public.
  • Complete and maintain a weekly inspection and activity spreadsheet documenting inspections performed, work completed, and other required information.
  • Submit the completed weekly spreadsheet and any required reports to the Regional Manager in Houston on a weekly basis.
Vehicle & Travel Requirements:
  • This position requires the employee to use their own reliable personal vehicle to travel to inspection locations within the Hedwig Village jurisdiction.
  • Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with Aoka's mileage reimbursement policy.
  • The employee must maintain a valid driver's license and any legally required automobile insurance.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Health Inspector, Sanitarian, Environmental Health Specialist, or in a similar environmental health inspection role.
  • Active Registered Sanitarian (RS) credential required.
  • Experience conducting food establishment inspections strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and public health regulations.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $50 per hour.
  • Part-time, as-needed schedule, based on inspection volume and City needs.
  • Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 5% company match after 90 days of employment.
