Remote Health Coaching and Remote Wellness Coaching share similarities in credentials and virtual work environments. However, Remote Health Coaching typically focuses on managing specific health conditions and working within healthcare settings, while Remote Wellness Coaching emphasizes overall lifestyle and holistic well-being. Both roles require certification and are used across healthcare and wellness industries, but they serve different client needs and goals.

How do remote health coaches collaborate with clients and other healthcare professionals?

Remote health coaches often use digital platforms such as video calls, messaging apps, and specialized health coaching software to maintain regular communication with clients. They work closely with clients to set health goals, track progress, and provide ongoing support. Additionally, health coaches may coordinate with nutritionists, physicians, or therapists to ensure a holistic approach to each client's wellbeing. This collaborative environment requires strong communication skills and adaptability to different technologies and client needs.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote health coach?

To thrive as a Remote Health Coach, you need a solid understanding of nutrition, wellness practices, and behavior change strategies, often supported by certifications like NBC-HWC or ACE Health Coach. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, health tracking apps, and secure communication tools is typically required. Strong motivational interviewing skills, empathy, and effective virtual communication help you connect with and support clients remotely. These skills and qualities are crucial for fostering client engagement, delivering personalized support, and achieving positive health outcomes in a virtual setting.

What is remote health coaching?

Remote health coaching is a professional service where health coaches work with clients virtually, using digital tools like video calls, phone calls, or messaging apps. The goal is to support individuals in making healthier lifestyle choices, such as improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, managing stress, or achieving wellness goals. Remote health coaches provide personalized guidance, motivation, and accountability without requiring in-person meetings, making support more accessible and flexible for clients. This approach can be especially beneficial for people who have busy schedules or live in areas with limited access to health professionals.

Job description

About Flourish
Flourish Health (www.flourish.health) is a telehealth clinic for young adults with high acuity psychiatric illness insured by Medicaid. Our contracts with Medicaid allow our clinical teams to provide high quality care to adolescents ages 12-26 in communities that have historically been marginalized, have limited access to care, and who may otherwise not get the level of care they need.
Flourish health is a general adolescent psychiatry clinic with a fully integrated therapy and case management team. Patients are referred to us as an alternative to IOP. Our patients have moderate to severe mood disorders, moderate to severe anxiety and trauma disorders, and/or behavioral disorders such as ODD. Each psychiatrist works with a team of full-time therapists and full-time case managers to support their patient panel.
From the patient's perspective, they get support from a comprehensive mental health team including their psychiatrist, therapist, mental health coach, and case manager/advocate.
This fully staffed team allows you as the psychiatrist to focus on providing the best care possible while the rest of the team manages additional support and case work. This posting is for a child & adolescent psychiatrist who can commit to 16 or 24 hours per week. To learn more about the position and to apply please email Dr. Lady Martinez at: lady@flourish.health with the subject line: "CAP 16 or 24 Hrs Per Week".

  • Strong commitment to working from a position of humility, respecting the patient/families as the expert in their own lives
  • Adaptable to changing workflows as the clinic grows
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to a high level of detail
  • Willingness to give and receive feedback as part of cross-functional multidisciplinary team; we believe compassionate and direct feedback builds team trust and promotes a high quality of service
  • Comfort with technology; willingness to learn to use technical tools as part of the company's internal and external communications and operations processes
  • Comfortable providing care to patient panel census of 150-200 patients with 20 hours per week of direct patient care time (see sample schedule below)

Some of the Responsibilities
  • Build strong rapport with patients
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Collaborate with therapist and other care team members to develop comprehensive treatment plan
  • Use evidence-based practice to provide individual treatment to adolescents and young adults with mental health needs including medication management

Requirements:

  • Willing to be licensed in 10+ states, where your patient panel is located
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary care team approach and demonstrated respect for colleagues from other disciplines

Schedule:
