Remote Graduate Music information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Graduate Music Teacher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Graduate Music Teacher, you need a solid background in music theory, performance, and pedagogy, typically supported by a relevant degree in music education or performance. Competence with virtual teaching platforms, digital audio tools, and music notation software is often required. Strong communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for engaging students and managing remote instruction. These abilities ensure effective music education, student progress, and seamless adaptation to online learning environments.

What are some common challenges faced by remote graduate music students, and how can they overcome them?

Remote graduate music students often encounter challenges related to collaboration, access to resources, and feedback. Unlike traditional in-person programs, remote students may find it harder to participate in ensemble work, masterclasses, or receive immediate, hands-on feedback from instructors. To overcome these hurdles, students can leverage virtual collaboration tools, participate in online forums and masterclasses, and schedule regular video check-ins with faculty. Building a structured routine and staying proactive in seeking opportunities for interaction can also help maximize the remote learning experience.

What are remote graduate music programs?

Remote graduate music programs are advanced academic courses in music that can be completed online, allowing students to earn a master's or doctoral degree without attending classes on campus. These programs often include coursework in music theory, history, composition, performance, and music technology. Students participate through video lectures, virtual performances, and digital collaboration tools, making it possible to balance education with other commitments or geographical constraints. Remote graduate music programs are ideal for working professionals or those unable to relocate. They typically require a strong background in music and may include live or recorded performance submissions as part of the curriculum.

Oak View Group
Oak View Group (OVG) is the global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, with a platform spanning venue development and end-to-end capabilities across venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Founded in 2015, the company serves a collection of seven world-class owned venues and a client roster of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions, spanning four continents.
Overview
About the Ascend Internship Program (HBCU & HSI)
Now celebrating its first year, the Ascend Internship Program is a cornerstone of OVG's commitment to developing diverse early-career talent and expanding pathways into the sports and live entertainment industry. Designed specifically for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), this immersive experience combines hands-on learning, career development, and mentorship-helping interns build the skills and networks needed to launch impactful careers.
Career Readiness Workshops: Interactive sessions that equip interns with practical tools for professional success-communication, personal branding, interview prep, and workplace navigation.
Mentorship: Each intern is paired with an OVG leader who provides guidance, coaching, and real-world insight throughout the program.
Capstone Project: Interns collaborate on a team-based project tied to real challenges in sports and live entertainment, building strategic thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional teamwork.
Capstone Showcase: The program culminates in a final presentation where interns share their work and key takeaways, celebrating their growth and contributions.
The Content Development & Private Events team is responsible for driving and securing venue programming partnerships and revenue-generating private events business across Oak View Group's portfolio of over 400 venues.
The Content Development & Private Event Internship offers a glimpse into a career in venue programming and event sales, allowing you to learn, contribute, and support real-time booking and sales initiatives within the sports and live entertainment industry, with exposure to prospecting, pitch development, and client engagement.
This role is expected to last from June 8, 2026 and will end on August 7, 2026.
This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00
This position will remain open until June 5, 2026.
Responsibilities
Venue Programming & Sales Development: Develop an understanding of the daily responsibilities involved in multi-venue programming, booking, private event sales, and revenue generation across sports and live entertainment properties.
Sales Pipeline & Prospecting: Assist in growing the private event sales pipeline by researching prospective clients, identifying new target markets (corporate, nonprofit, social, premium experiences), and supporting outreach initiatives across OVG venues.
Sales Platforms: Gain hands-on experience using relevant sales tools (e.g. CRM platforms).
Client Briefs: Create client, and event, briefs during key stages of the sales process (e.g., prior to prospecting and introductory meetings), preparing background materials and insights for OVG leadership.
Proposals: Assist in the development of customized client presentations and proposals.
Site Visits: Support coordination of client walkthroughs and site visits, helping prepare materials and contributing to a best-in-class guest experience.
Event Execution Support: Contribute to the planning and site execution of activations at venue events. TBD.
Other Program Details: Participate in a summer-long capstone project, engage in professional development workshops, and attend meetings with company executives as part of the Ascend Internship Program.
Key Learnings:
  • Gain hands-on experience in content development and venue programming strategy within the live entertainment industry.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of private event sales strategy, including prospecting, pipeline management, and client engagement.
  • Strengthen professional communication, presentation development, and analytical skills in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Growth in leadership and communication through collaboration on high-impact projects with internal teams and partners.

Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student or a recent graduate at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) at the time of the program start.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Professional demeanor and collaborative mindset.
