Job description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Wetlands Permitting Specialist. This is a remote position and requires California Wetlands and regulatory compliance experience. This position requires a proven track record in preparing wetlands and waterway delineation reports. Must be well organized with attention to detail. This is a remote position.

Job Description

  • This position supports the Wetlands Protection Program focused on the technical review, quality control and oversite which include wetlands and waterway jurisdictional delineation reports, project permit applications and supplemental project documentation.
  • Ability to work closely with the team with ongoing coordination and communications with consultants and environmental, biology, planning and execution sections in addition to various water agencies.
  • Position requires a strong working knowledge of multiple states and federal regulations including the Federal Clean Water Act (404 and 401), Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, and California Fish and Game Code (1600 et seq.)
  • Ability to work with the Wetlands team and various project clients to support permitting strategies and provide guidance and recommendations based on project needs.
  • Ability to support the Wetlands team’s coordination with federal and state resource agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) and/or Regional Water Quality Control Boards (RWQCB) and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife (CDFW) to ensure compliance with applicable water quality projection regulations.

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree in Biology, Ecology, or other Environmental Science or related field
  • Three years of working with general Water Quality compliance
  • Must have experience using GIS Mapping System and have had previous field experience
  • Two plus years' experience with jurisdictional water and wetland delineator
  • Two plus years' experience with resource and project planning
  • Two plus years' experience using ArcGIS and Google Earth
  • Two plus years' experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Geospatial Systems
  • Five years' experience in regulatory permitting and negotiation in California (including USACE, RWQCB, and CDFW)
  • One year experience in Wetlands Delineation in Arid Southwest
  • Two years effective resource and project planning, critical decision making, results deliver, teamwork.
  • Proven track record in preparing environmental permitting applications and technical reports
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are required
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, KMZ and Google Earth

Upon a conditional job offer, a drug test and background check will be required.

Compensation based on experience.
