JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Altoona invites applications for a part-time adjunct instructor position in Earth and Mineral Sciences beginning in Spring 2027. Teaching responsibilities will be one section of GEOG 115 (Landforms of the World) meeting on Monday and Friday from 1:25-2:15PM (lecture) and Wednesday from 1:25-3:20PM (laboratory).
This course explores the geologic study of landforms and the Earth processes that shape them, with emphasis on internal geophysics and external landscape responses to tectonic and climatic forces. It is divided into three units: atmospheric processes; the impact of water, weather, and climate change on landform stability; and tectonics, weathering, mass movement, and surface processes that shape Earth's topography and resource distribution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions and laboratory assignments in accordance with the course description and learning objectives.
- Provide time during the week to meet with students outside of class.
- Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
- Provide timely feedback and guidance to students to support their learning and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geography, Geosciences, or a related field; doctoral students who are ABD may be considered.
