What is a remote game engine developer?

A Remote Game Engine Developer is a software professional who designs, develops, and maintains game engines while working from a remote location. They are responsible for creating the core systems that power video games, such as rendering, physics, scripting, and networking, allowing game designers and artists to build interactive experiences. Remote Game Engine Developers collaborate with other team members using online tools and communication platforms, ensuring the game's performance, scalability, and compatibility across different platforms. Their work is crucial for bringing game concepts to life, and they often specialize in engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, or custom solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote game engine developer?

To excel as a Remote Game Engine Developer, you need solid proficiency in programming languages like C++ or C#, a deep understanding of computer graphics, and experience with game engine architecture, often backed by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with industry-standard engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, version control systems like Git, and relevant certifications can be crucial. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective remote communication set candidates apart in distributed teams. Job description

ABOUT SINGLE GRAIN

Single Grain is a Revenue Marketing agency. We build pipeline-focused systems that compound — not campaigns that expire. We've helped 500+ companies, from venture-backed startups to the Fortune 500, drive measurable growth, influencing billions in revenue with a 3.2x average ROI.

Our portfolio includes:

  • Single Grain Agency — enterprise digital marketing services across SEO, paid media, creative, CRO, and AI-driven growth strategy.

  • ClickFlow — our AI-powered content optimization platform that helps companies unlock hidden growth from their existing content by identifying high-impact SEO opportunities and improving rankings with AI insights.

  • Karrot — a LinkedIn advertising and landing page platform built specifically for B2B companies running demand generation programs.

  • Single Brain — the complete client operating layer: one agent interface for the human, one agent fleet commander for execution, an agent fleet of worker operators, and vertical specialists that handle the actual work.

We are evolving into a tech-enabled services (TES) company, where software, automation, and services combine to create leverage. Our CEO Eric Siu hosts the Leveling Up podcast and co-hosts Marketing School with Neil Patel, reaching millions of marketers and founders every month — a brand ecosystem most agencies don't have.

We are fully remote, and we operate as an AI-native team: every role at Single Grain is expected to use AI to increase speed, quality, and leverage.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Search behavior is fragmenting. Rankings alone no longer capture organic opportunity — AI answer engines, LLM citations, and community platforms now shape buying decisions before a click ever happens. This role builds and operates the AI-first organic growth systems that keep Single Grain clients visible and cited wherever buyers search: Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Reddit, and whatever comes next.

You'll own the translation layer between client organic goals and AI-powered execution across SEO, AEO/GEO, LLM optimization, and community-driven channels. That means identifying the business problem, designing the workflow, building or coordinating the system, training the people who use it, and improving it until it produces real business value. If this seat stays empty, our organic practice keeps scaling the old way — by adding people — while clients lose ground on the surfaces where buyers now ask their questions. This is one of the roles that makes Single Grain's shift to a services-as-software model real for the organic practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Onboard assigned clients into Single Brain's organic workflows (Single Brain is our network of managed revenue agents that operate inside team chat) and into Single Grain's AI-first operating model.

  • Translate ambiguous organic goals into production-ready AI workflows: AEO visibility tracking, content decay detection, citation monitoring, technical audit automation, internal linking systems, and community signal loops.

  • Design and ship managed organic agents, reusable prompt libraries, SOPs, templates, and QA/evaluation systems that compound across accounts instead of producing one-off deliverables.

  • Build executive-level client trust as the advisor who keeps them visible as search changes across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Reddit, and review platforms.

  • Measure adoption and business impact — LLM citation growth, AI answer visibility, organic pipeline contribution, and time-to-deliverable reduction — and keep improving workflows as models, tools, and search behavior change.

  • Train clients and internal SEO and Content teams to work effectively with AI systems.

  • Turn repeatable patterns across clients into company assets that raise the whole organic practice's AI capability.

YOU MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF
  • You bring 6+ years of experience in SEO and organic growth.

  • Hard skills (day-one non-negotiables):

  • Technical SEO fundamentals, plus fluency in how AI answer engines retrieve, cite, and rank sources — real AEO/GEO strategy and measurement, not just an awareness of the trend.

  • AI workflow design: you build complete systems and agents, not isolated prompts, and you understand context engineering, agent architecture, orchestration, and evaluation.

  • Hands-on building in modern AI environments (e.g. Claude Code, CLI and agent workflows). You can independently ship organic tooling — crawlers, dashboards, monitoring scripts — without waiting on engineering.

  • Analytics and measurement design: you can define and track citations, visibility, and organic pipeline contribution, and tie them back to ROI.

  • Client consulting with clear written and verbal communication.

How you operate:
  • You reach for AI before escalating a problem, and you build a reusable system rather than repeat manual work.

  • You apply sharp taste — you know when AI output should be accepted, edited, or thrown away.

  • You partner closely with clients and internal teams, building trust and driving adoption through real change management.

  • You're a relentless learner who adopts new models, tools, and workflows faster than the market.

  • You have a bias to action — you ship, learn, and iterate weekly instead of over-planning.

  • You stay resilient at the frontier: models change, experiments fail, and you adapt quickly without ego.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

You'll report to Carissa with a dotted line to Eric Siu, and partner day-to-day with the SEO and Content teams as well as directly with client stakeholders — often at the executive level. The role sits at the intersection of organic strategy, AI systems, and client execution, so comfort moving between all three is a real part of the job.

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
  • This is not a prompt-dabbler role. Occasionally trying AI tools isn't enough — you'll design and operate systems, not write one-off prompts.

  • This is not traditional set-and-forget SEO. Ranking tactics alone won't carry the work; it centers on AI answer engines and how buyers search across new surfaces.

  • This is not a role that scales by doing manual work faster. Success means building reusable systems, not putting yourself on a faster hamster wheel.

  • This is not a pure-strategy or advisory seat. You'll build and ship working tooling yourself, not hand specs to an engineering team.

  • This is not a stable, unchanging playbook. Models, tools, and search behavior shift constantly — comfort with ambiguity and change is the job, not a bonus.

  • If you read this list and recognize yourself in the opposite of each line, you'll likely thrive here.

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.

BENEFITS

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance on the 1st of the month after you join

  • 401(k) with 100% match up to 3% of your salary

  • $50K life insurance policy, paid 100% by the company

  • 12 weeks of paid family leave, effective after the first year of employment

  • Flexible Unlimited Paid Time Off

  • $100 utilities stipend, paid out as an extra $50 per paycheck

  • $60 UberEats credit each month

  • A MacBook

  • $500 WFH office reimbursement

  • Fully remote — work from anywhere
