Our game studio, codenamed Blue Studio, is a group of passionate and experienced game makers. We are developers, producers, and content creators all driven by delivering a world-class, AAA gaming experience inside of Netflix.
We are looking for teammates who share our desires to create this experience and who can make a positive contribution to our workplace culture. We are a remote first studio, so we are also looking for developers who will thrive in a remote workplace environment.
About the position
We're looking for an experienced and highly-skilled Unreal Tools and Infrastructure Engineer to help us accelerate the development of our game. We want someone who is not only a proficient coder, but also someone who can take the time to understand the needs of everyone who contributes to the game and can craft both backend and frontend solutions that accelerate the efforts of engineers and content creators alike.
As an engineer at Netflix you are empowered and expected to identify and prioritize your own work and to design and implement solutions that impact the entire studio.The ideal candidate should have experience building Unreal Engine tools and workflows for small to medium sized teams utilizing development partners across the globe. They will be well versed in asset pipelines, build infrastructure, and automation. They are able to collaborate with engineers across Netflix, as well as external developers, collectively ensuring that our workflows are equipped to handle the vast scale of assets in an AAA game.

Responsibilities

  • Development Tooling: Identifying and building easy to use frameworks that enable engineers, designers, and artists to rapidly iterate
  • Technical Leadership: Providing technical guidance to make right-sized workflow architecture decisions for prototyping and a successful future final product on in-progress technologies and platforms
  • Collaboration and Communication: Able to work across disciplines with minimum process to organize work and create predictability in an unpredictable space

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience developing multiple AAA games
  • Experience shipping one or more titles as tools engineer with a focus on efficient team pipelines in Unreal Engine
  • Experience building workflow utilizing cloud computing platforms like AWS
  • Exceptional communication, cross discipline collaboration and leadership skills
  • Extensive experience with Unreal Engine
  • Expert level skills in C++Passion for playing, incubating, building, and shipping video games

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working broadly with Unreal Engine (gameplay, UI, animation)
  • Strong workflow user experience sense
  • Strong understanding of lightweight production/team process
  • Experience working with early or unreleased game platforms
  • Full stack/backend services expertise - experience using open-source tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience with content creation tools (Maya, Blender, etc) and developing content pipelines
  • Fluency in Java, C#, or Python
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $90,000 - $600,000.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
