What is remote game development?

Remote game development refers to the process of creating video games while working from a location outside of a traditional office environment, often from home or any place with internet access. Teams collaborate using online tools for coding, design, art, and communication, allowing for flexible work arrangements. Remote game development has become increasingly popular as technology enables seamless collaboration across different locations, time zones, and even countries. This setup can help studios access a wider talent pool and support better work-life balance for developers.

What are some common challenges faced by remote game developers and how can they be addressed?

Remote game developers often encounter challenges such as coordinating across time zones, maintaining clear communication, and ensuring version control of shared assets. To overcome these, teams frequently use collaboration tools like Slack, project management platforms, and version control systems such as Git. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation are also essential to keep everyone aligned and productive. Proactively addressing these challenges helps maintain a cohesive workflow and fosters a positive remote team environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Game Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Game Developer, a solid background in computer science, game design principles, and programming languages such as C++, C#, or JavaScript is essential, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, version control systems (e.g., Git), and sometimes certifications in game development tools are typically required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving abilities help remote developers collaborate effectively and manage their time independently. These skills ensure seamless project delivery, innovation, and high-quality gameplay experiences in a distributed work environment.

Job description

Trivelta builds the technology that powers modern, social-first gaming experiences. Through our proprietary sportsbook and casino engine, we enable partners to launch their own fully branded, legally compliant gaming products, combining real social interactions, predictive gameplay, and casino entertainment in one unified experience. Headquartered in Boston with operations in Monterrey, Barcelona, and Atlanta, we're scaling rapidly and building a team passionate about redefining how people play, socialize, and connect.

We are looking for a Human Resources professional. This is a unique opportunity to build and own the HR function while supporting a fast-growing, international organization.

We're seeking a hands-on HR Generalist who can operate both strategically and tactically, someone excited about building processes from scratch, ensuring compliance, and creating a strong employee experience in a high-growth environment.

People Operations & Compliance

  • Create, maintain, and enforce HR policies, handbooks, and SOPs.
  • Review payroll for accuracy, resolve payroll incidents, and ensure benefits administration, time-off policies, and local compliance requirements are properly handled (payroll processing itself is managed externally).
  • Manage employment contracts, onboarding and offboarding processes, equipment provisioning, and HRIS upkeep (Gusto, Deel, etc.).
  • Develop performance management cycles (90-day, 6-month, annual reviews).
  • Implement professional development programs, L&D initiatives, and internal mobility pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with Spanish labor law and local regulations.
  • Partner with global teams to ensure alignment with international HR practices (U.S., Mexico).
  • Support contractor management, employment structures, and local compliance requirements.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture across all subsidiaries and remote teams.
  • Lead conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary processes, and sensitive employee matters.
  • Build engagement programs, company-wide communication frameworks, and all-hands processes.

HR Infrastructure & Systems

  • Help implement and maintain HR systems (HRIS, payroll tools like Deel).
  • Own data integrity, reporting dashboards, and headcount analytics.
  • Create unified documentation (Confluence Employee Hub, onboarding flows, policy libraries).

Business Partnership

  • Partner with local and international leaders to support team growth and structure.
  • Provide best practices and employee management.
  • Support organizational changes and scaling efforts
