To excel as a Remote Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you need strong programming skills, experience in software deployment, and a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with cloud platforms, version control systems like Git, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools is typically required. These abilities ensure you can deliver tailored technical solutions efficiently and adapt to the unique challenges of remote and client-facing environments.

What is a Remote Forward Deployed Software Engineer?

A Remote Forward Deployed Software Engineer is a software engineer who works offsite (remotely) and is embedded directly with a client or customer team to help implement, customize, and integrate technical solutions. They often serve as both technical experts and liaisons, working closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored software products. Their role typically involves travel or virtual collaboration with client teams, rapid problem-solving, and adapting existing software to unique business requirements. This position requires strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently from a remote location.

Job description

We Are Surgence
Surgence is a cloud-based ecosystem committed to revolutionizing the healthcare supply chain. The platform serves as a comprehensive solution for providers, distributors, and suppliers, ensuring seamless coordination, efficiency, and visibility across the supply chain. Surgence integrates flexible connectivity and development, advanced analytics, alerts, and workflow capabilities to enable proactive decision-making, risk mitigation, and collaborative forecasting to advance the healthcare supply chain. We move with urgency, embrace intensity, and prioritize outcomes over activity. Charging through the storm together, we will not be satisfied until reliable care is the default - everywhere.
As a team member at Surgence, you'll be signing up for a rocket ride on the latest technology with the best teammates. Bring your big brain energy and your builder mindset. We provide the rocket fuel.
Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time, fully remote Forward Deployed Software Engineer I to design, build, and deploy production-grade solutions on Palantir Foundry. Working closely with customers, product, and engineering teams, you will help transform complex operational challenges into scalable systems that drive measurable business outcomes. This is a hands-on role for builders who are eager to learn, take ownership, and grow their technical expertise while solving meaningful real-world problems.
Essential Functions
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end Foundry solutions, including data ingestion and integration pipelines, ontology and semantic data models, and Foundry applications and user-facing workflows.
  • Work across the stack using Foundry-native tools to deliver solutions that are production-ready, secure, governed, scalable, and supportable.
  • Integrate data from diverse source systems (APIs, files, databases, and external partners), ensuring data quality, reliability, and observability across pipelines, and troubleshoot data and application issues in production environments.
  • Follow and uphold platform guardrails for tenant isolation, RBAC and access controls, data lineage, and auditability.
  • Treat "done" as release-ready, not just code-complete.
  • Ensure solutions are maintainable and can be supported by downstream teams.
  • Collaborate with other FDEs, architects, and platform engineers to align on standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Document solution designs, data flows, and operational considerations.
  • Continuously expand Foundry, domain, and full-stack expertise.
  • Support occasional on-site internal or customer events (less than 10% travel).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
What We Are Looking For
  • 0-2 years of experience in product development, software engineering, data engineering, or related technical roles
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry in production environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or supply chain domains strongly preferred.
  • Experience building software applications, data pipelines, or full-stack solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Foundry-relevant languages and paradigms (e.g., Python, SQL, ontology-driven design).
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving problem spaces.
  • Ability to learn to work directly with stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working close to operations, logistics, or regulated environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with deploying and supporting solutions used by non-technical end users preferred.
  • Exposure to AI enabled software development and building analytics-enabled workflows within Foundry preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, break them into manageable components, and drive solutions to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and a practical, results-oriented approach to solution development.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check and drug screening.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Software Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.

Benefits
  • Health, Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • PTO, Sick Leave, and Paid Holidays
  • 401K Company Match
  • Paid Short-Term & Long-Term Disability
