Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify the symptoms of eating disorders and any co-occurring mental health conditions among clients, providing a comprehensive understanding of their treatment needs.
  • Design and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in partnership with clients, ensuring that their recovery goals align with their personal values and needs.
  • Utilize specialized therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to facilitate recovery and promote healthier coping strategies.
  • Lead therapy sessions focused on addressing maladaptive beliefs related to body image, food, and self-worth, helping clients build a positive self-concept and body appreciation.
  • Support clients in developing practical skills for emotional regulation and coping mechanisms to combat disordered eating behaviors, tailored to each client’s unique experience.
  • Collaborate actively with a multidisciplinary treatment team, including nutritionists and psychiatrists, to coordinate comprehensive care plans, ensuring a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Provide psychoeducation to both clients and their families about the intricacies of eating disorders, fostering understanding and a supportive environment for recovery.
  • Maintain precise documentation of client progress, treatment objectives, and conducted therapy sessions, adhering to ethical and legal requirements while utilizing digital record-keeping systems.
  • Engage regularly in team meetings and case conferences, sharing insights and strategies to enhance your clinical practice and contribute to the organization’s knowledge base.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role is pivotal in addressing the needs of clients battling eating disorders of various types. Working with diverse individuals, you will help them overcome the psychological and emotional barriers that contribute to their disorders. Your expertise will empower clients not only to improve their relationship with food and body image but also enhance their overall self-esteem and quality of life.

Qualifications
  • A master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and active licensure as an LCSW, LCPC, or LCMFT in the state of Kansas.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalities, with demonstrated experience in CBT, DBT, and ACT relevant to eating disorders.
  • A strong comprehensive understanding of the various aspects and challenges related to eating disorders and co-occurring conditions.
