What is the difference between Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst vs Remote Laboratory Technician?

AspectRemote Flow Cytometry AnalystRemote Laboratory Technician
CredentialsBachelor's in biology, immunology, or related field; flow cytometry certification often preferredAssociate's or bachelor's in biology, chemistry, or related field; lab safety and technical certifications
Work EnvironmentRemote analysis of flow cytometry data, collaboration with labs and research teamsRemote or on-site sample processing, equipment maintenance, and data recording
Industry UsageBiotech, pharmaceutical, research institutionsClinical labs, research facilities, biotech companies

The Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst primarily focuses on analyzing flow cytometry data remotely, requiring specialized knowledge in cell analysis techniques. In contrast, the Remote Laboratory Technician may handle sample preparation and equipment tasks, often with more hands-on responsibilities. Both roles are essential in biotech and research industries, but they differ in daily tasks and required expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst, you need a solid background in cell biology or immunology, experience with flow cytometry principles, and typically a relevant degree such as a BSc or MSc. Familiarity with flow cytometry analysis software (e.g., FlowJo, FCS Express) and data management systems is essential, and certifications in cytometry can be advantageous. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong written communication skills are important soft skills for interpreting and reporting complex data remotely. These competencies ensure accurate data analysis, clear communication of results, and effective collaboration with research teams from a distance.

What are some common challenges faced by remote Flow Cytometry Analysts, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote Flow Cytometry Analysts often encounter challenges related to accessing and troubleshooting laboratory instruments and software from a distance. Effective communication with on-site lab staff is crucial for resolving technical issues and ensuring data accuracy. To manage these challenges, analysts typically use secure remote access tools, maintain regular check-ins with the lab team, and document protocols thoroughly. Building strong collaboration with lab personnel and staying updated on remote data analysis platforms can help ensure smooth workflow and reliable results.

What is a Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst?

A Remote Flow Cytometry Analyst is a professional who specializes in analyzing flow cytometry data from a remote location, rather than working on-site in a laboratory. They interpret complex cell analysis data, generate reports, and often provide consultative support to researchers and clinicians. This role typically requires expertise in flow cytometry techniques, data analysis software, and strong communication skills to collaborate with lab teams virtually. Remote analysts may work for hospitals, research institutions, or diagnostic companies, helping to process and interpret data efficiently from anywhere.

Job description

About Streck: Streck is a Nebraska-based manufacturing company that makes a global impact by developing and distributing to labs worldwide. Our products provide confidence for accurate health care testing! Our passions and priorities are focused on taking care of our customers, employees, and giving back to our community. Streck has jobs for every stage of your career. If you are a dependable, hard-working, and team-oriented individual who values meaningful work, Streck is looking for you to join our community of passionate people on a mission!
ABOUT THE ROLE
Streck is seeking a high-impact Strategic Account Executive to drive revenue growth for our Flow Cytometry Quality Controls portfolio across the United States. This is a field-based commercial role within the Hematology, Body Fluids and Flow (HBFF) business unit - built for someone who thrives in complex, consultative sales environments and is energized by building meaningful partnerships with CROs, large medical centers, reference laboratories, and diagnostic test providers.
You'll own your territory end-to-end: building pipeline, advancing multi-stakeholder deals, identifying private-label and partnership opportunities, and consistently achieving - and exceeding - your sales plan. Success here requires strong commercial discipline, genuine curiosity about clinical workflows, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally without relying on formal authority.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Build, qualify, advance, and close a high-quality pipeline with disciplined CRM hygiene, accurate forecasting, and consistent stage progression
  • Develop and grow strategic accounts with CROs, large medical centers, reference labs, and diagnostic providers across the U.S.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes spanning scientific, operational, procurement, and executive audiences
  • Identify and structure private-label and partnership opportunities, navigating OEM and white-label deal structures with cross-functional support
  • Position Streck QC solutions in terms of compliance, risk reduction, and operational value - speaking credibly with lab directors, quality leaders, and scientific stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Support to move opportunities forward and resolve internal blockers
  • Stay current on clinical flow cytometry applications, regulatory frameworks (CLIA, CAP), and evolving customer needs

WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
  • 2-3+ years in account management or sales within life sciences, diagnostics, or medtech
  • Proven ability to build pipeline and close complex, consultative deals
  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder, regulated sales cycles
  • Strong CRM discipline and forecasting accuracy
  • Excellent communication across technical and business audiences
  • Bachelor's degree required

Nice to have:
  • Experience with CROs, reference labs, large medical centers, or diagnostic providers
  • Exposure to private-label, OEM, or partnership deal structures
  • Hands-on clinical or translational flow cytometry lab experience
  • LAMP or similar structured qualification methodology
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Power BI

DOMAIN EXPERTISE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Understanding of how quality controls are used in regulated clinical lab environments - including daily, shift-based, lot-to-lot, and instrument QC practices in flow cytometry
  • Working knowledge of U.S. clinical lab regulatory frameworks (CLIA, CAP) and how they influence QC purchasing and validation decisions
  • Familiarity with end-to-end clinical flow workflows, including leukemia/lymphoma immunophenotyping, CD4 monitoring, and immune profiling
  • Ability to tailor commercial conversations based on account type, testing volume, and workflow variability

Streck Offerings
  • A challenging, safe and rewarding work environment
  • No night or weekend shifts
  • Excellent work life balance
  • Market competitive pay
  • Comprehensive and inclusive benefits
  • Great team environment
  • On and off campus career development opportunities
