About the Role
We are looking for Automation Sales Executives to sell to Opentrons’ prospective and existing accounts in a proactive, consultative sales capacity.  With extensive product knowledge and ability to interpret how to enable our customers’ workflow needs with our platform and product portfolio, Sales Execs help our customers become more productive in their labs through increased automation.  Ultimately, they help Opentrons’ users continue to automate their workflows on our platform by ensuring they have everything they need in their labs - from robots to modules to consumables.
This is a remote field sales position, requiring at least 50% regional travel in your territory. The Automation Sales Executive reports to the VP Sales, Americas.
 
What You Would Do
  • Own and nurture a full-cycle sales pipeline from prospect and qualified lead to demo to the final sale
  • Proactively create new opportunities in your territory and vertical, while effectively selling and supporting your account base
  • Pipeline/Opportunity creation is a key KPI for this role
  • Plan and host seminars and account specific events
  • Lead video-conference demos and in-person demos/meetings to show robot’s capabilities and demonstrate Opentrons extensive value proposition
  • Sell Opentrons full product portfolio (robots, modules, consumables, reagents, services) to defined customer base; proactively educate customers on new products and features
  • Use Salesforce to maintain a meticulous sales pipeline & keep detailed records of customer interactions to achieve quarterly and annual quotas
  • Foster strong, working relationships with Opentrons customers and colleagues through consistent, proactive, and thoughtful communication
  • Function in a team selling environment by collaborating with pre-sales and post-sales support teams
Who We Are Looking For
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a life-science discipline
Experience:
  • 3+ years’ experience in a full-cycle sales role in the life sciences industry
  • Liquid Handling experience is strongly preferred
  • NGS, Proteomics, or similar sales/experience strongly preferred
  • Strong track record of exceeding sales goals
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Highly self-directed, goal oriented, and show excellent independent judgment
  • Passionate about life-science and the all-encompassing solutions it can provide to many of the world’s biggest problems
  • Comfortable with the uncertainty of charting new territory and relish the thrill of moving fast to solve tough problems and growth within a dynamic startup environment

Working Conditions and Physical Effort 
  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Minimum of 50% travel required

 

Compensation Range: The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $125,000 per year plus commission; however base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.  We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates.  The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
