About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Lines Insurance Underwriter specializing in renewals to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will play a vital part in evaluating and underwriting renewal applications for a diverse portfolio of commercial insurance policies. Your expertise will ensure that our clients' needs are met while maintaining a balanced risk profile for the company.What You’ll Do
We have an exciting opportunity for a Renewals Underwriter to join our team, responsibilities include:
Profitably underwrite and grow an assigned book of renewal accounts, including both property and casualty lines by reviewing insured's file, producing agency's experience, nature and frequency of losses, loss control surveys, motor vehicle reports, and prior carrier loss experience.Develop productive and profitable relationships with assigned agents and brokers through quick problem solving and a highly responsive and exceptional service experience.Quickly prioritize opportunities, evaluate and price risk and offer/negotiate customized coverage, deductible and terms and conditions based on the individual risk characteristics to best meet the insureds needs, in compliance with program guidelines and portfolio strategy, and based on a rigorous analysis of the application, COPE, loss runs, risk control reports and the applicant’s financial position.Educate agents and brokers on the programs risk appetite and target market as well as the program product and service differentiationsWork with Program Manager/Director to execute against renewal retention strategiesAssist with new business accounts as neededMaintain an established loss ratio and meet assigned production goals (retention and persistency)Other ad-hoc duties as assignedWhat We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience3+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience as well as multi-line rating experienceFamiliarity with multiple rating and issuance systems preferredComprehensive knowledge of commercial underwriting concepts, principles and processesResults and goal driven mentality with strong problem-solving abilitiesExceptional customer service orientation with the ability to create and strengthen internal and external relationshipsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills, integrity and follow throughResourceful, independent thinker with the desire to be part of a high-performance team and cultureWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as strong overall systems knowledgeWhat You'll Receive
