Overview

Managing Data Scientists at Excella leverage AI, machine learning, advanced statistical techniques to drive meaningful insights and solutions for clients. They provide strategic leadership in data science projects for clients and mentor team members to become better AI/ML engineers. They lead in architecture and pipeline designs allowing for reproducible and traceable AI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of data science projects, ensuring high-impact analytics solutions.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand business challenges and develop data-driven strategies.
  • Oversee data acquisition and integration, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Apply and refine machine learning and predictive modeling techniques to solve complex business problems.
  • Guide the deployment and integration of predictive models into business applications.
  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing model performance and monitoring over time.
  • Present findings and recommendations to executives, translating complex data concepts into actionable business strategies.
  • Mentor and support junior and senior team members in data science methodologies and best practices.
  • Influence data governance and best practices within the organization.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to define and lead analysis objectives and translate them into actionable results.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams to design, develop and deploy scaled, highly performant AI/ML solutions, preferrably in sensitive contexts
  • Experience with leading Agile AI/ML teams, including AI incubators. Strong background in leading data science teams and mentoring junior data scientists.
  • Experience developing and deploying Generative AI applications in high security contexts
  • 9+ years of experience in predictive analytics in languages like Python or Scala.
  • 9+ years of experience applying data science techniques, such as clustering analysis, anomaly detection, tree-based models, ensemble methods, neural networks
  • Experience tracking model performance through product development lifecycle. Experience using AI/ML pipeline management and tracking tools (MLFlow, DataBricks)
  • Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and Big Data platforms (Hadoop/Spark). Including querying to extract data from multiple source systems.
  • Experience using natural language processing techniques, including Generative AI.
  • Preferred: Experience applying advanced analytics for fraud detection and prevention.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage tasks and estimate time requirements effectively. Continuous learning mindset with a passion for staying up to date on emerging data science technologies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) and its capabilities is encouraged.
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum framework

This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary that Excella reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top or bottom of the range. 
 
Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus in addition to the base salary. This variable pay opportunity is dependent upon the attainment of shared firmwide goals and objectives as determined by Excella’s Executive Team. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply. 

Should your experience and knowledge qualify you for a different position or title within Excella, we may consider you for positions that better align with your qualifications. In that case, we will provide the range for those positions as well. 

Pay Range
$167,000—$225,000 USD
