What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote First employee?

To thrive in a Remote First role, you need strong self-management, digital communication, and time management skills, often supported by prior remote work experience and proficiency in collaborative platforms. Familiarity with tools like Slack, Zoom, project management software, and secure remote access systems is crucial. Proactive communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for remote environments. These abilities ensure productivity, collaboration, and accountability without direct in-person supervision.

What are the main challenges and benefits of working in a Remote First company environment?

Working in a remote-first company offers flexibility and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team from various locations, but it also presents unique challenges. Remote employees often need to be proactive communicators and manage their own schedules to stay productive, as daily interactions can be less spontaneous than in a traditional office. Building strong relationships and maintaining team cohesion requires intentional effort through digital tools and regular virtual meetings. However, remote-first environments typically provide autonomy, support for work-life balance, and access to roles regardless of geographic location, making them appealing for many professionals.

What does Remote First mean in the context of jobs?

'Remote First' refers to a work policy or company culture where working remotely is the default mode of operation. Employees are encouraged or expected to work from locations outside of a traditional office, and company systems, communication, and workflows are designed to support remote work. While some in-person workspaces may be available, they are typically optional or secondary. This approach allows for greater flexibility, access to a broader talent pool, and often improved work-life balance for employees.

Job description

Growth Marketing Coordinator
Vivant Corp | Remote | Reports to Founder/CEOWho We Are
Vivant eliminates internet, phone, and WiFi outages for multi-location businesses - guaranteed. We're scaling from $7M to $20M MRR and building a lean, high-output marketing function. You'll be one of two marketing hires working directly with the founder. The Role
A doer (website updates, blog writing, SEO, social media posts, lead magnets and nurture sequences). At your core you are a strong content writer
This is an execution role. If you're the type of person who needs to be told exactly what to do every day, this isn't for you. If you're the type who looks at a plan and immediately starts to execute it - welcome home. What You'll Execute Day-to-Day
  • Email campaigns and sequences - build, schedule, and monitor in Go High Level
  • Content calendar - own the publishing calendar across LinkedIn, email, and the website
  • Landing pages and lead magnets - build and test, track conversion rates
  • Social media - LinkedIn-first, consistent posting tied to ICP targeting
  • Campaign performance tracking - weekly/ monthly KPI dashboard updated without being asked
  • Event coordination - trade shows, conferences, webinars - logistics, materials, follow-up sequences
  • Customer case studies - identify candidates, coordinate interviews, produce written and video assets
  • Website updates - content updates, landing page creation, basic SEO hygiene
  • Graphic design - Canva or equivalent, for social, ads, one-pagers, and email assets
The Non-Negotiables
  • You've executed B2B marketing campaigns - not just assisted, executed - with metrics to show for it
  • Go High Level, HubSpot, or equivalent CRM - you've built automations and sequences, not just sent blasts
  • Copywriting is a genuine strength - you can write a cold email subject line and a LinkedIn post that actually gets engagement
  • You're organized without being told to be - you manage your own deadlines
  • You're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and you adapt without losing output quality
  • Basic graphic design - you don't need to be a designer, but you can produce clean, on-brand materials
What Success Looks Like
  • 60 days: All active campaigns documented, CRM cleaned up, content calendar live
  • 90 days: Consistent content publishing cadence, email sequences running, weekly KPI report delivered to CEO every Monday
  • 6 months: Measurable improvement in email open/click rates, social engagement trending up, at least 3 customer case studies published
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary + performance bonus
  • Remote-first, full-time
  • Direct mentorship from a metrics-driven founder and a senior demand gen lead
  • Real ownership - your work is visible and measured, not buried in a large team
  • Clear path to growth as the marketing function scales
Who Should NOT Apply
  • Social media managers who haven't worked in a B2B environment
  • You need creative direction for every piece of content
  • You can't show specific metrics from campaigns you've run
