Film Scene Description Specialist (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for film-savvy professionals to help train the next generation of AI systems to see and understand cinema the way a director does. As a Film Scene Description Specialist at Alignerr, you'll watch scenes and translate what's on screen - framing, movement, pacing, blocking, emotional tone - into precise, structured descriptions that teach AI how visual storytelling works.
This is a unique opportunity to put your film education and eye for craft to work on something genuinely cutting-edge.
  • Organization
    : Alignerr
  • Type
    : Hourly Contract
  • Location
    : Remote
  • Commitment
: Flexible - work on your own schedule
What You'll Do
  • Watch short film scenes and break them down beat by beat
  • Describe camera movement, framing choices, shot composition, and blocking with precision
  • Convey mood, pacing, and emotional tone using purely visual language - no dialogue references
  • Identify key transitions, visual reveals, and recurring motifs within scenes
  • Follow standardized formatting guidelines for beat breakdowns and scene summaries
  • Add clarity notes where visual information is ambiguous or open to interpretation
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy across a high volume of scene descriptions
Who You Are
Must-Have:
  • Background in film, directing, cinematography, editing, or formal film education
  • Strong ability to analyze and articulate what's happening visually in a scene - without referencing dialogue
  • Excellent structured writing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Comfortable re-watching clips multiple times to ensure accuracy
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with script coverage, storyboarding, shot lists, or pre-visualization workflows
  • Solid understanding of scene structure, narrative pacing, and visual storytelling fundamentals
  • Familiarity with cinematographic terminology (e.g., rack focus, dolly shot, Dutch angle)
Why Join Us
  • Work on pioneering AI projects with leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible - set your own hours and work at your own pace
  • Put your film expertise to meaningful use in an emerging and exciting field
  • Freelance autonomy with the backing of a reputable organization
