Job description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for executing model change management processes in compliance with established governance policies and procedures. This position will collaborate with various teams to understand, develop, and integrate enhancements to Corporate GGY AXIS models supporting valuation, ALM, pricing, and planning purposes. This role requires programming activities across all six product lines – FIA, RILA, PRT, Payout Annuity, Traditional Life and Universal Life. Regular interactions with internal groups (e.g., Valuation, ALM, Pricing) as well as external parties (e.g., software vendor, consultants, auditors) is inherent to these processes. Management and development of staff may also be required. Actuaries at all levels have opportunities to interact with senior leaders across disciplines and functions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate model change requirement-gathering meetings, and update related documentations in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with various teams to understand the model change requirements and identify key stakeholders
  • Develop model changes accurately using efficient programming techniques and adherence to Best Practices
  • Update all associated model documentation (e.g. MSD, ASD, simplification) to accurately reflect assigned model changes
  • Create detailed Technical documentation for model changes
  • Review and validate results against requirements throughout the development process, and provide ongoing support for follow-up questions
  • Oversee and review model development performed by other developers, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency with established standards
  • Serve as the F&G subject matter expert on Corporate AXIS models, providing technical model support and relevant training to actuarial users across the organization
  • Develop and enhance processes to be effective and efficient, repeatable and scalable

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has people leadership responsibilities, including managing performance, developing talent, and supporting engagement and team effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate with and presenting to all levels of management
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and operates efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, including advanced analytical and reasoning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations
  • Strong project management skills, including priority setting, resource assessment, and delivery management with a focus on quality
  • Team player with a demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field

Years of Experience

  • 6+ years of relevant actuarial experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of AXIS (preferred) or similar actuarial modeling software required
  • ASA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Indexed Universal Life Insurance and Pension Risk Transfer business lines preferred
  • Experience with modeling applications that calculate or project US statutory and US GAAP quantities preferred (e.g., Valuation, Pricing, ALM)
  • FSA strongly preferred

  • This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available.
