UW Medicine IT Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Student Assistant - Project Manager Assistant.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Monday - Friday; 8:00AM - 12 Noon or 12 Noon - 4PM (PST)
  • Day Shift
  • 100% remote opportunity

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
The ITS Project Management Office (PMO) serves to provide a structured foundation to effectively and efficiently manage incoming and active projects within our portfolio through reusable standards and streamlined processes. Projects include but are not limited to:
  • Epic practice management, revenue cycle, and other business applications
  • Ancillary and clinical support systems
  • Analytics solution and platform for regulatory, quality, clinical, and business reporting
  • Web solution for critical initiatives and the organization's digital communications

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Student Assistant - Project Manager Assistant will work in the PMO and will be mainly focused on projects that are not managed by the PMO or "non-PMO managed projects". Today, we have countless projects being managed outside of the PMO and have limited to no visibility. We don't know how they are being managed, we don't know dates and timelines, we don't know what the budget may or may not be. For these reasons, we are looking to bring in a Student that can help us wrap our arms around this work. The Student will be responsible for:
  • Inventorying the non-PMO managed projects
  • Providing reporting and status updates on non-PMO managed projects
  • Help define a process to get visibility into non-PMO managed projects
  • Determine a long-term solution for non-PMO managed projects that will provide the visibility and support these projects need
  • Provide PM training and support to non-PMO Project Managers
  • Other Duties required by PMO

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current student at the University of Washington; preferably focused on a degree in Business Administration or other related field.

DESIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in project coordination or project management
  • Familiarity with MS Planner
  • Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take direction while also working with minimal supervision
  • A strong desire to learn
