Job description

The Construction Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment, and transportation assets. This role ensures all fleet equipment is maintained, compliant, safe, and available to support construction operations while managing costs, vendor relationships, and asset utilization.


Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations Management

  • Manage daily operations of company-owned vehicles, heavy equipment, trailers, and support assets.
  • Coordinate equipment allocation and mobilization to project sites.
  • Monitor fleet utilization and recommend equipment purchases, replacements, or disposals.
  • Maintain accurate fleet records, including registrations, inspections, titles, and warranties.
  • Maintain and track yard inventory.


Maintenance & Repairs

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Schedule and oversee equipment inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  • Coordinate with internal mechanics and external vendors to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for increased reliability and efficiency.


Asset Management

  • Track fleet inventory and equipment lifecycle costs.
  • Analyze equipment utilization and productivity metrics.
  • Manage equipment replacement schedules and capital expenditure planning.
  • Conduct regular fleet audits and equipment condition assessments.


Compliance & Safety

Qualifications

Experience

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, preventive maintenance programs, and fleet management systems.
