Job description

Waste Connections is seeking a Seasonal Excavator Operator to join ourMadera Disposalteam in Suisun City, CA!

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9-10 hours per day, starting at 7am. This project will last until the end of October and will pick back up again in the Spring for about 6 more months. This timeframe is dependent on weather and is subject to change.

Compensation: Starting paybegins at$60-65per hour, based on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operateexcavator, and other equipment on site as needed.
  • Excavate, relocate,and grade soil as neededas part of landfill cell construction.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain.
  • The environment may be dusty, noisy, and require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots.
  • There will be exposure to machinery and heavy equipment, so safety protocols and precautions are strictly followed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience operating an excavator on slopes
  • Ability to
    • Read and interpret construction plans
    • Establish and maintain grade accurately
    • Excavate and load trucks efficiently on sloped terrain
    • Operate GPS machine control systems proficiently
    • Work safely and productively in an earth moving construction environment
  • GPS experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Great attention to detail
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements,and a dynamic work environment.
