Salary Range: The full pay range for this role is $120,800 - $201,300 annually.  . We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location.

Scope of Job

The Business Development Manager (Asset Optimization) is responsible for driving the growth and long-term retention of our Asset Optimization (AO) service agreements. This role combines strategic account management, new contract acquisition, and cross-functional support to expand our footprint with both internal and external partners.

Target Candidate Profile:

This is a specialized business development role. Candidates must have direct experience in the renewable energy or broader energy sector (e.g., wind, solar, O&M services). 

Primary Responsibilities & Impact
  • Relationship & Contract Management: Oversee existing AO service agreements to ensure high customer satisfaction, operational continuity, and ongoing contract performance.

  • Internal Program Support: Lead cross-functional execution and ongoing management of internal project requirements related to AO agreements.

  • Business Growth: Proactively expand existing accounts and source new commercial opportunities to meet and exceed growth targets within the renewable energy space.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Target, establish, and nurture relationships with key market players-including project developers, asset owners, financiers, and investors-to drive service contract growth.

  • Build business cases and commercial proposals that balance short-term revenue with long-term strategic and financial goals.

  • Promote brand visibility and thought leadership across the renewable energy sector through speaking engagements, webinars, industry articles, and trade shows.

Deal Execution & RFP Management

  • Lead end-to-end commercial responses for RFPs, bilateral opportunities, and internal development submissions.

  • Lead contract negotiations with external counterparties and guide deals through internal governance and approval processes.

Account Management & Client Success

  • Own key client relationships, deeply mapping customer organizations, incentives, and decision-making structures to drive long-term retention and satisfaction.

  • Proactively identify customer and project challenges, escalating critical issues appropriately to maintain project success.

Market Intelligence & Operational Excellence

  • Gather and synthesize market insights and competitive intelligence to enhance internal strategy and service delivery.

  • Maintain complete, timely reporting on pipeline activity and key account health to ensure full operational transparency.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of company capabilities, market positioning, and corporate values.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Details
  • Supervision: Individual contributor role (0 direct reports).

  • Travel Requirements: 30%-50% travel required, including visits to company facilities, project sites, customer meetings, partner locations, and industry conferences.

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Manages external resource budgets supporting O&M Business Development initiatives, including justification and expense tracking.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's/advanced degree preferred.

  • Industry Background: 3+ years of business development experience specifically in the renewable energy sector (wind, solar).

  • Sales Track Record: 3+ years of direct B2B sales experience with a proven track record of managing long sales cycles, prospecting, and closing contracts.

  • Language Skills: Professional fluency in English required; proficiency in French or Spanish is a plus.
