What is a remote estate manager?

A Remote Estate Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of an estate or property from a remote location. They coordinate maintenance, manage staff, handle finances, and ensure the smooth running of the estate, often using digital tools and regular communication with on-site personnel. This role allows estate owners to have their properties efficiently managed without the need for the manager to be physically present, making it ideal for those who own multiple properties or travel frequently.

How does a remote estate manager effectively oversee property operations without being on-site?

A Remote Estate Manager typically leverages technology and strong communication to oversee property operations from a distance. They coordinate with on-site staff, vendors, and service providers through video calls, management platforms, and regular reporting to ensure maintenance, security, and guest or resident needs are met. Success in this role often depends on establishing clear procedures, fostering trust with local teams, and using digital tools for scheduling, budgeting, and monitoring tasks. Many managers also conduct periodic site visits to maintain relationships and address any issues that require in-person attention.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote estate manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Estate Manager, you need strong organizational abilities, property management experience, and often a background in real estate or hospitality. Familiarity with property management software, virtual communication tools, and sometimes relevant certifications such as CPM (Certified Property Manager) are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are standout soft skills in this role. These skills and qualifications are vital for efficiently overseeing multiple properties from a distance, ensuring high standards of maintenance, client satisfaction, and seamless operations.

What is the difference between Remote Estate Manager vs Property Coordinator?

AspectRemote Estate Manager

Work EnvironmentPrimarily remote, overseeing multiple properties, coordinating with on-site staff and vendors
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by luxury estate firms, property management companies, and high-net-worth individuals
Search & Comparison IntentPeople compare to roles involving estate oversight, property management, or remote property coordination

Job description

About the team
We're looking for product managers who are passionate about helping people find their next home. Come join us! You'll work on a team responsible for helping customers take a big leap from dreaming to buying. We make sure we route every Zillow customer to the best real estate agent available for them. From there, they work together to win the perfect home. We aim to make the start of the home purchase process as seamless as possible. We're a high-performing, fast-paced team that prides itself on continuous innovation of its products, especially during this time of big change in the industry
About the role
We're looking for someone who enjoys tackling complex problems and delivering meaningful results. This role will focus on building and scaling a network of high-performing agents on Zillow who deliver a best-in-class customer experience. In late Q4 2025, Zillow transitioned from team-based engagement to managing performance at the individual agent level. This shift significantly expanded the scope and complexity of performance management for Zillow's Preferred Buyer program. As the Preferred program scales, we must evolve from high-touch, 1:1 operator-led performance management to scalable systems that can support tens of thousands of agents. This role will define the strategy and execution plan for that transition, including designing the tools, incentives, and experiences that drive conversion across key personas such as agents, team leads, loan officers, and internal growth advisors.
You Will Get To:
  • Identify and clearly articulate customer problems, balancing agent and customer feedback with business needs
  • Define goals and success metrics for your product area and prioritize what to build to achieve them
  • Inform Zillow's strategy by understanding customer needs, analyzing competitors, and staying current on industry and technology trends
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data on agent and customer performance to rapidly test, measure, and iterate on your team's products
  • Coordinate across product, operations, and go-to-market teams to align product work with high-level business strategy

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.
In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $148,600.00 - $237,400.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $141,200.00 - $225,600.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.
Who you are
  • 5+ years managing products from concept to launch, or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical abilities; you pair data with intuition to define product strategy, roadmaps, and development tradeoffs
  • Proficient in modern product discovery techniques and familiar with agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated technical skill and comfort evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of product approaches and proposals
  • Demonstrated strategic vision and leadership, with the ability to inspire, influence, and drive outcomes without direct authority
  • Expert verbal and written communicator with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with engineers, designers, and leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences
