Description

As a highly valued member of the Forney TX Team, the Safety and Health Specialist will lead our safety initiatives within a high-volume distribution center environment. This role is critical in ensuring the health and safety of all employees, particularly in operations involving forklifts, heavy equipment, and fast-paced logistics. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a passion for training, compliance, and continuous improvement.

As the Safety and Health Specialist, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures that align with OSHA standards and company goals

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the facility, including forklift operations and material handling zones

  • Lead and facilitate safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, forklift certification, hazard communication, and emergency response

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; prepare detailed reports and root cause analyses; implement corrective actions

  • Collaborate with operations leadership to ensure safe work practices and ergonomic improvements

  • Maintain accurate safety records, training logs, and compliance documentation

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and internal safety committees

  • Promote a culture of safety through employee engagement, recognition programs, and continuous education

  • Manage PPE inventory, signage, and safety equipment to ensure readiness and availability

  • Support other duties and projects, as assigned, to enhance safety and operational excellence

Required education, experiences & skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of safety management experience in a distribution, warehouse, or manufacturing environment

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, forklift safety standards, and incident investigation protocols

  • Proven experience developing and delivering safety training programs

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and coach across all levels

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems

  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed

  • Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 with OPT or CPT, H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire

Preferred education, experiences & skills:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30-hour certification, or equivalent

  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies in safety and process improvement

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities
