Job description

Position Overview

Meridian Energy & Environment, LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to support a growing portfolio of environmental due diligence, compliance, and industrial consulting projects. This position will involve conducting and managing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), supporting industrial environmental compliance programs, and providing technical consulting services to commercial, industrial, and institutional clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, regulatory knowledge, project management experience, and the ability to work independently while contributing to multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM standards and the All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI) Rule.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support Phase II investigations, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling programs.
  • Evaluate environmental conditions, prepare technical reports, and develop recommendations for corrective action or further investigation.
  • Support industrial environmental compliance projects involving:
    • Air permitting and emissions compliance
    • Hazardous and solid waste compliance (RCRA)
    • Stormwater and wastewater permitting/compliance
    • SPCC, SWPPP, and related environmental plans
    • Regulatory reporting and inspections
  • Conduct site visits, compliance audits, and environmental reviews at industrial facilities.
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, project budgeting, and client development efforts.


 

Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing Phase I and Phase II ESAs  
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, etc.)
  • Experience with industrial compliance programs and permitting
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform occasional field work

Preferred:

  • Professional registration or certifications such as PG, PE, CHMM, or EP
  • Experience with Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Programs
  • Experience in air permitting and industrial emissions compliance
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER (current or ability to obtain)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools
  • Familiarity with South Carolina and other southeastern states’ regulatory programs a plus
