Details:
Azure Cloud Infra Support Engineer
Location: Alpharetta, Georgia 30005 - Remote
Duration: 12 months
The MSDE Cloud Infra team is responsible for all aspects of managing and maintaining a set of enterprise hosted developer enablement tools that are used throughout global IT development community in Azure These tools, both open source and 3rd party vendor, are hosted in Azure, in a high availability configuration, and are used by thousands of developers on a daily basis. They include tools such as Azure App Services, Azure Storage Account and Azure Virtual Machines The infra engineering team is responsible for managing and maintaining these products, tuning them for high performance, upgrading them to the latest releases, introducing additional functionality and providing engineering escalation support. Members of the team will be expected to work closely with the development community on day-to-day usage of the products, as well our internal development team, and the offshore support team that provides first line support. Team members will also be expected to work with the SRE teams on regular basis, to exploit the environment, and infrastructure tooling. Candidates will have the technical skills required to support these products on a Linux platform running in public cloud and have knowledge of IaC language such ask Terraform. Some knowledge of databases, development and SDLC practices, and windows servers are all desirable.
What will you be doing?
  • Technical evaluation and deployment of enterprise hosted development enablement tools into the Azure environment.
  • Documentation and knowledge transfers to peers and operations teams
  • Conducting major upgrades to existing enterprise hosted products
  • Building, maintaining, and supporting infrastructure around the products to aid in enterprise use
  • Troubleshooting performance and stability issues with cloud hosted services.
  • Liaising with users of our products in the IT developer space, to ensure that they are getting the most out the MSDE product set.
  • Working with the MSDE operations, SRE and development teams on day to day issues.
  • Planning and carrying out scheduled activities within the firm change approval framework
  • Write scripts to automate various tasks

  • Experienced in running and operating infrastructure running in Azure
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Exhibit required skills in at least 3 of the following areas
  • Knowledge of Azure Virtual Machine
  • Knowledge of Azure Virtual Machine Scaleset
  • Knowledge of Azure Networking
  • Knowledge of Azure Load Balancing
  • Knowledge of Terraform
  • Knowledge of GitHub and/or Azure DevOps
  • Experience with performance troubleshooting and resolution
  • Experience with cloud monitoring using cloudwatch, azure monitor, loki, jaeger or Grafana
  • Ability to write detailed technical documentation

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • SCM knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of Linux and Bash
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
  • Knowledge of issue tracking type tools
  • Experience of CI systems such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
