Remote Entry Level Chemical Engineer information

What does a remote entry level chemical engineer do?

A remote entry level chemical engineer assists in designing, developing, and optimizing chemical processes and equipment from a remote location. Their tasks typically include data analysis, process simulations, technical report writing, and collaborating with senior engineers through virtual meetings. They may work on projects related to manufacturing, environmental protection, or energy production, using specialized software and digital communication tools. The remote aspect allows them to contribute to engineering teams without being physically present at the job site.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote entry level chemical engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Entry Level Chemical Engineer, you generally need a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles. Familiarity with simulation software like Aspen Plus or MATLAB, as well as basic knowledge of process control systems, is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for collaborating remotely and handling tasks independently. These competencies ensure accurate project contributions, smooth virtual teamwork, and successful adaptation to remote work environments.

What are some common challenges faced by remote entry level chemical engineers, and how can they be overcome?

Remote entry level chemical engineers often encounter challenges such as limited hands-on access to laboratory equipment and difficulty collaborating with cross-functional teams. To overcome these, it's important to proactively communicate with colleagues using digital collaboration tools, seek virtual mentorship, and request detailed data or video demonstrations for experimental processes. Staying organized and regularly checking in with supervisors can help ensure clear expectations and steady progress, even when working off-site.

Job description

Placement Type:
Temporary
Salary:
$30-40 Hourly
Start Date:
ASAP
Are you a self-described "data nerd" who genuinely enjoys digging into raw data, finding patterns, and making processes cleaner and more consistent?
Our Digital Manufacturing Intelligence team is seeking a Junior Digital Manufacturing Analyst to support ongoing enterprise data analytics, dashboard scaling, and process monitoring across multiple continuous manufacturing facilities. This is a 100% remote, long-term contract role (20-30 hours per week) designed for an entry-level or early-career technical professional (0-2 years of experience) who thrives on solving real-world operational problems through data.
Key Highlights of the Role:
  • Role Type: Ongoing Temporary / Contract Staff Augmentation (20-30 hours/week)
  • Location: 100% Remote (Primary facilities located across the US)
  • Work Authorization: Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder; No C2C
  • Core Focus: Building and standardizing enterprise dashboards (Power BI, Python), auditing plant data signals, and supporting Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting.
  • Professional Growth: Hands-on experience working directly with plant engineers and digital transformation leaders, plus full company-sponsored training on Seeq (industrial analytics platform).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Dashboard Development & Standardization: Update, enhance, and standardize manufacturing dashboards across multiple plant locations to ensure consistent visual layouts, units, and metrics.
  • Manufacturing Data Auditing & Analysis: Gather, clean, and audit plant production and equipment signal data across databases to identify gaps, trends, and anomalies.
  • Process Performance Monitoring: Build and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and monitoring visualizations to support process control and root cause investigations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with plant engineers, reliability specialists, and remote data teams to refine metrics, present findings, and continuously improve tools.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Recent graduate or currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Reliability), Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity or experience with data analysis and BI tools (Python, Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms). Full training provided on Seeq.
  • Process Understanding: Foundational awareness of manufacturing process data, signals (pressure, temperature, current), and basic statistical process control concepts.
  • Mindset: Highly detail-oriented (focus on consistency, formatting, and accuracy), self-motivated for remote work, and naturally curious about how manufacturing systems work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to industrial environments, SCADA, MES systems, or process control systems.
  • Experience in glass, building products, or continuous process manufacturing.
