Engineering Manager, Lead
The Opportunity:
As a Squad Lead and Engineering Manager, you will lead one or more engineering squads with a primary focus on people leadership, predictable delivery, operational execution, and transparent communication.
You will be accountable for helping your squad plan and execute effectively while maintaining engineering artifacts, status reporting, dashboards, and operational practices defined by the engineering organization. You will build a high-performing, accountable team culture while maintaining clear separation between engineering management responsibilities and deep technical architecture and implementation decisions, which sit with system architects, technology leads, and individual engineering teams.
You will operate within a lean product organization, partnering closely with product management, engineering, and go-to-market to create trust through transparency, clear trade-offs, and predictable delivery.
What You'll Work On:
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and grow engineers while building a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable squad.
  • Own squad-level execution, ensuring planned work is clearly defined, prioritized, tracked, and communicated throughout each sprint and iteration.
  • Establish and maintain required engineering artifacts, including sprint plans, delivery plans, key decisions, risks, dependencies, and milestone tracking.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and transparent status reporting, including burndown, milestone progress, percentage completeness, critical path risks, and delivery forecasts.
  • Facilitate sprint reviews, feature reviews, and milestone readiness discussions to demonstrate progress and identify gaps to launch readiness.
  • Proactively identify schedule, scope, quality, resource, and dependency risks, and work with product management and technical leadership to resolve trade-offs.
  • Maintain clear evidence of feature and "go-live" readiness, and communicate changes in delivery confidence as work progresses.
  • Monitor and communicate squad-level operational health, including availability, uptime, incident trends, code quality, test coverage, scalability, security, and cost.
  • Ensure consistent execution of deployment safety practices, on-call rotations, incident response, and other operational processes.
  • Support secure-by-design practices, compliance requirements, threat modeling, and appropriate coordination before production changes.
  • Partner closely with product management on roadmap feasibility, prioritization, sequencing, experimentation, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Work closely with technology leads and system architects to identify technical risks, dependencies, and architectural considerations that could affect delivery.
  • Escalate significant delivery, staffing, technical, or operational risks to engineering leadership with clear context and recommended actions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, delivery practices, and management operating rhythms across the organization.

Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role such as engineering manager, squad lead, or team lead
  • Experience leading an engineering team through planning, execution, delivery, and operational support
  • Experience with Agile delivery practices, including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe
  • Experience creating and maintaining delivery visibility through status reporting, planning artifacts, dashboards, metrics, and regular execution cadences
  • Ability to identify and communicate delivery risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to product, engineering, and leadership audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience working within a scaled engineering organization or SAFe environment
  • Experience as a Release Train Engineer (RTE), technology lead, engineering manager, or squad lead
  • Experience with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and automated testing
  • Experience working in security-conscious, regulated, or compliance-driven environments
  • Experience helping scale an engineering team or establishing effective engineering management practices
  • Experience partnering with product management on roadmap planning, prioritization, and delivery trade-offs
  • Experience managing production services, on-call rotations, incident response, or operational readiness
  • Possession of strong people leadership, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or a related technical field
