Job Description
POSITION TITLE: INSTALLATION SUPERINTENDANT - NUCLEAR
REPORTS TO: JOEL CHELLMAN - SERVICE AND INSTALLATION MANAGER
BUSINESS UNIT: KONECRANE NUCLEAR EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES, LLC
POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you have an interest in becoming an installation superintendent of material handling solutions in Nuclear facilities? Are you able and capable of working at extreme heights? At Konecranes, installation superintendents and technicians are the heart of our industry. We work in a safety-first type of environment and don't mind heights or working on mechanical parts. As an installation superintendent, you will be working with engineered project teams to install complex machinery that operators on 480 3 phase motors, troubleshooting issues with our cranes, and working with clients and facility directors to ensure that our clients are properly being taken care of. Our installation superintendents have the opportunity to experience new and challenging situations with each job.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for on-time and on-budget execution of installations of nuclear equipment at customer locations globally working with a cross-functional project team. Project types include oversight for repairs, modernization and installation activities on electric overhead traveling cranes at a nuclear power plants government facilities and other demanding customer sites both in the USA and globally
• Follow all established safety rules and quality procedures, including those established by the customer and have a strong commitment to safety
• Arrive to project sites before install crew to verify delivery of material and equipment. Stay onsite after install crew to demobilize and ship tools and equipment from the site
• Manage sub-contract workforce staffing levels and collect, review and sign their service reports and other required and appropriate documents in a professional, accurate, neat and legible manner and submit same in a timely manner and in accordance with established guidelines.
• Maintain strong communication with the project team, service office and Service and Installation Supervisor, in accordance with established practices.
• Prior to installation, review, print and prepare document packages as necessary and communicate with other members of the installation team
• Evaluation of rigging plans. Collaborate rigging/installation methods to installation engineering with a positive questioning attitude. During installation need to implement those plans while recognizing potential problems or hazards
• Have the ability to write safety related documents and work plans
• Conduct customer training programs and modules as required by the contract
• Ability to research and procure materials and tools local to the project
• Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle (if applicable) and assets in a safe and proper working order. Operate tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify supervisor of any deficiencies for resolution.
• Maintain uniforms in a clean and presentable manner.
• Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer and have a strong commitment to safety
• Plan and participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver's license.
• Must be willing and able to work at elevations
• Must be able to pass background checks that are required to gain access to nuclear power plants and secure government facilities (A candidates legal, financial, physiological and psychological background are considered in these background checks). Previous knowledge of work at nuclear facilities a plus
• Must be able to work varied overtime, as required by customer, and be able to travel and work away from home for extended periods of time.
• Must be team oriented, solutions driven, customer focused and a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Previous project management background is a plus
• Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and BOM's. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude are a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, Microsoft Project and SAP are required
• Read, understand and apply the contents of all OSHA, ANSI, CMAA and other codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Refresh and update knowledge periodically.
• Possibility to expand role during non-installation windows to include other services as deemed necessary by the Service and Installation Manager
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in installation of overhead material handling equipment and nuclear experience is a plus
TRAVEL: Overnight and extended travel to customer locations is required on a global basis. 75-90% Travel required.
