Job description

About Zavienta

Zavienta is seeking a Freelance Senior Managing Editor, Launch Editorial to support the final editorial layer of its launch slate.

Website: https://www.zavienta.com

This is a remote freelance / contract consulting role. The Managing Editor does not need to be based in Florida.

Zavienta is a new fashion and beauty publication built around editorial authority, creator culture, live programming, and modern commerce.

Our voice is sharp, selective, culturally aware, and visually considered.

We are preparing for launch and are working with a strong editorial bench of freelance contributors whose experience spans established media, leading fashion and beauty publications, cultural coverage, digital editorial, and brand storytelling.

We are seeking a senior editorial operator who can help bring that launch slate into one cohesive, polished, publication-ready standard.

This is not a general talent pool. This is an active launch role for someone who understands editorial judgment, taste, structure, contributor management, image needs, and the final layer of quality control required before a publication goes live.

The Role

The Freelance Senior Managing Editor, Launch Editorial will oversee the final review and coordination of Zavienta’s launch articles across fashion, beauty, culture, creator coverage, celebrity style, social media movement, luxury, and emerging trends.

This person will work closely with the founder / editorial lead to review articles for consistency, clarity, tone, structure, and polish.

They will also coordinate with writers on revisions and final materials, and help manage the visual-readiness of each story, including image needs, image libraries, captions, credits, and licensing considerations.

The ideal candidate has the judgment of a senior editor, the organization of a managing editor, and the visual awareness of someone who understands that editorial credibility is built through both language and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Reviewing launch articles for tone, clarity, structure, consistency, accuracy, polish, and editorial strength

• Ensuring each piece aligns with Zavienta’s voice, positioning, and launch standards

• Coordinating with freelance writers on revisions, deadlines, missing materials, image needs, captions, and final details

• Managing article flow across fashion, beauty, culture, creator-focused stories, trend analysis, profiles, interviews, and features

• Helping shape headlines, deks, captions, story framing, bylines, and final article structure

• Identifying weak angles, inconsistent tone, unclear transitions, missing context, or sections that need refinement

• Ensuring the contributor bench reads as one elevated publication voice while preserving each writer’s point of view

• Managing and organizing image needs for launch articles

• Coordinating image sourcing, image options, credits, captions, usage notes, and approval status

• Flagging missing visuals, unclear rights, weak image pairings, incomplete credits, or editorial

presentation issues before publication

• Maintaining a clear editorial tracker for copy status, revision needs, image status, and final readiness

• Helping ensure the launch package feels refined, credible, visually strong, and publication-ready

What We’re Looking For

Strong candidates should have:

• Experience as a Managing Editor, Senior Editor, Deputy Editor, Editorial Director, Copy Chief, or senior editorial consultant

• A background in digital publishing, fashion, beauty, culture, lifestyle, luxury, or premium editorial media

• Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to elevate copy without flattening a writer’s voice

• Experience managing freelance contributors, editorial calendars, copy flow, revisions, and production deadlines

• A sharp eye for tone, structure, headlines, pacing, and publication-level polish

• Strong understanding of visual storytelling, image selection, captions, credits, licensing considerations, and editorial presentation

• Ability to coordinate multiple writers, stories, assets, and deadlines in a fast-moving launch environment

• A refined understanding of fashion, beauty, culture, celebrity style, creator culture, digital influence, and emerging consumer behavior

• Clear communication, discretion, organization, and high editorial standards

• The ability to bring calm, structure, and judgment to a launch-stage editorial operation

Ideal Background

We are especially interested in candidates with experience across:

• Fashion, beauty, culture, lifestyle, or luxury media

• Digital magazines, editorial platforms, newsletters, or premium brand editorial

• Managing launch packages or multi-writer editorial slates

• Working with established media contributors or experienced freelance writers

• Copy flow, editorial calendars, production workflow, and final article readiness

• Image research, image libraries, captions, credits, rights, and visual direction

• Headline writing, article structure, story framing, and final quality control

Experience with respected editorial brands, premium independent publications, or high-quality digital media environments is highly valued.

Engagement

This is a freelance / contract consulting role for Zavienta’s launch period, with potential for ongoing collaboration as the publication expands.

The initial scope will focus on reviewing the launch editorial slate, coordinating with contributors, organizing image needs, managing article readiness, and helping ensure every piece is polished, cohesive, and ready for publication.

Compensation will be discussed based on experience, scope, timeline, and level of involvement.

How to Apply

Please apply with:

• Resume or brief professional background

• Links to relevant editorial work, publications, or projects

• A short note describing your managing editor, senior editor, copy flow, or editorial production experience

• Any relevant experience managing freelance writers, image libraries, captions, credits, rights, or launch editorial packages

• Availability for immediate freelance / consulting work

Closing Line

  • Zavienta is building its launch voice with a selective editorial bench and is seeking a Managing Editor who can bring structure, taste, judgment, polish, and cohesion to the final layer before publication.
