Ready to turn creativity into adventure and inspire thousands to discover everything Flagstaff has to offer? Join the City of Flagstaff's Convention and Visitors Bureau as a Creative Services Specialist Social Media and help tell the story of one of Arizona's most vibrant destinations.
In this exciting role, you'll lead the planning, creation, implementation, and management of innovative social media strategies that showcase Flagstaff as a premier travel destination. You'll develop engaging, high-quality content across multiple digital platforms to increase brand awareness, inspire travel, and connect with visitors, residents, community partners, and stakeholders. By monitoring online conversations, analyzing performance metrics, and identifying emerging trends, you'll help shape meaningful digital experiences while supporting the Convention and Visitors Bureau's overall marketing goals and promoting the unique character and experiences that make Flagstaff unforgettable. Examples of the Work Performed
  • Provides excellent, proactive customer service to both internal and external customers, to include providing a high-level of design, production, and related consultation services to the CVB, within own division and other COF divisions. Occasionally, outside agency coordination may be needed.
  • Provides an annual plan with strategy and goals supporting the organization's annual goals.
  • Takes the lead with maintaining the CVB's presence on all social media channels and handles in direct collaboration with the marketing and media department.
  • Communicating with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner.
  • Weekly, captures photography for multiples posts and creates graphics which support the CVB's marketing campaigns and initiatives, City of Flagstaff and partners.
  • Produces at least two :15-:30 videos weekly which includes storyboarding and video editing for distribution on social media
  • Advises and assists the Creative Services Manager and staff in developing advertising strategies and communications materials to support CVB's overall marketing mission.
  • Builds and maintains relationships within the community to gain commitment from hotels, restaurants, retail, local organizations, Northern Arizona University and attractions toward our common goal of increasing visitation to Flagstaff.
  • Develops and implements long-range programs, as well as the day-to-day performance of duties that lead toward establishing and maintaining positive and productive community relations and outreach efforts between the CVB and citizens, the business community, media, event organizers, local attractions, outside agencies and public officials.
  • Assists with the conceptualization of creative marketing and branding strategies to position Flagstaff as a premier tourism destination.
  • Produces logos for CVB events and promotional campaigns, develops and maintains CVB branding supporting the image and messaging for Flagstaff as a visitor destination, and ensures branding integrity through the supervision of outside vendors.
  • Develops and edits copy for advertising and communications, working in tandem with the team
  • Weekly, designs and produces print and online creative, collateral and publications.
  • Assists with the production process, copy approvals, proofreading, printing approvals and attends press checks when necessary.
  • Participates in making recommendations on the CVB website process and structure.
  • Collaborates with the Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Visitor Services programs to develop presentations, collateral material and other items necessary to the work program of each section.
  • Contributes to the procurement of all photo imagery and illustration necessary for CVB-produced advertising, collateral and publications.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the CVB digital photo and video libraries and fulfills photo and logo requests from stakeholders, media, and staff.
  • Participates in maintaining positive, proactive relationships with various members of the media community by promptly fulfilling image and information requests.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of progressively advancing creative responsibilities with an ad agency, design firm, publishing house, and/or in-house marketing environment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Minimum requirements such as driver's license may not be substituted and are required at time of hire.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience with photography and photographic principles.
  • Experience with digital illustration.
  • Experience with video and video editing.
  • Strong knowledge of design principles and art composition, e.g., page layout, color theory, typography, imagery and integration of components into a harmonious whole.
