Job description

Description/Responsibilities

Why Tivity Health?

At Tivity Health, we deliver trusted wellness solutions that drive real, lasting impact on health and longevity. This remote role offers the opportunity to shape the future of wellness by proving the clinical and economic power of lifestyle interventions.

Overview

Tivity Health is seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Director of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to serve as a key internal consultant across our diverse product portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Consumer Insights & Analytics, you will lead the generation of clinical and health outcomes-based insights that directly support corporate strategy, product development, and client growth. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in claims analysis who can transition seamlessly between deep technical execution (using SQL/SAS) and high-level strategic consultation. You will be responsible for demonstrating the value of our wellness and integrative care solutions to our various clients by designing and executing rigorous studies that prove impact on both member health and total cost of care.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Strategic Consultant: Act as the lead HEOR expert for all Tivity Health products, providing evidence-based insights to inform product innovation and go-to-market strategies.
  • Enterprise Outcomes Support: Also serve as partner/support for all other research and analysis conducted unrelated to health outcomes including research support of primary and secondary research of markets and consumers of all Tivity Health products.
  • Study Design & Execution: Independently design, manage, and execute HEOR studies, including retrospective claims analyses, prospective observational studies, as well as prospective and retrospective savings analyses. Understand business value levers to be able to translate them into study design.
  • Targeted Claims Analysis: Hands-on extraction and manipulation of large-scale healthcare claims databases to identify trends, cost-savings, and clinical outcomes.
  • Recurring Claims Analysis: Generate outlier, ROI/savings analysis from utilization management, and claims analysis/reporting which are distributed monthly, quarterly, and annually to our internal team members and our clients. Additionally present the results of these analyses externally during client JOCs, QBRs, and Annual Reviews.
  • Value Proposition Development: Translate complex research findings into compelling value stories for clients, demonstrating how Tivity's wellness and integrative care solutions drive clinical improvement and ROI.
  • Value Storytelling: Translate complex data into persuasive, executive-level value stories that demonstrate how our programs impact member health outcomes and total cost of care.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Strategy, Clinical, Product, Client Relations, and Sales teams to ensure data-driven insights are integrated into the product lifecycle and all sales and client growth efforts.
  • HEOR External SME: Serve as the primary HEOR subject matter expert in external meetings with clients, partners, vendors, and strategic prospects.
  • Consultative Selling Support: Partner with the Sales and Growth teams to build credibility by articulating the rigorous scientific methodology and clinical evidence behind Tivity Health's solutions.
  • Market Insight Synthesis: Act as a conduit between the market and internal teams, gathering feedback from partners and the market to ensure our HEOR strategy and product development remain aligned with evolving needs and industry trends.
Qualifications
  • Formal Education: Master's degree or PhD in Health Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related quantitative field strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree with five years of directly related experience required.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SAS is required for performing complex claims analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong interest in wellness solutions and preventative health, with the ability to apply traditional HEOR methodologies to non-clinical interventions.
  • Hands-On Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in HEOR, outcomes research, or health economics.
    • Proven track record of working with health plan data and understanding payer priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to self-sufficiently design and execute research projects from conception to final report.
    • Experience in the healthcare and wellness service industry is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate technical data to non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership and external health plan partners.
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving, project management, negotiation/issue resolution and leadership skills.
    • Strong analytical skills and presentation skills with particular attention and expertise being paid to the presentation of findings and the development of logical and appropriate recommendations.
    • Ability to participate in discussions with internal and external parties regarding client strategies.
  • Advisory Capacity: A strategic consultant who bridges the gap between complex technical, financial, and operational data and the development of high-impact, relationship-based solutions tailored to specific customer business challenges.
    • Ability to build relationships with customers and to develop unique customer focused solutions based on strong understanding of customer business challenges and needs.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand complex operational and data processing issues, plus financial, and technical issues.

The salary range for this opportunity is $114,800 to $140,000. Compensation depends on several factors: qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.

Tivity Health offers a robust benefits package, which includes a competitive salary, company bonus potential, medical, dental, vision, 401k with match, generous paid time off, free gym membership to over 13,000 fitness locations in the US, and other great benefits.
