About the Role

The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing Milestone Funeral Partners' organizational learning strategy while creating engaging training experiences that support employee growth and operational excellence. Working closely with company leadership and operational teams, you'll assess learning needs, design innovative training programs, oversee our Learning Management System (LMS), and deliver both virtual and in-person learning experiences.

This is a full-time, remote opportunity based in the Northeast with travel of up to 33% required to support onsite training and organizational learning initiatives.


What You'll Do

Learning Strategy & Program Development

  • Develop and execute a company-wide learning and development strategy aligned with organizational goals and culture
  • Assess training needs across departments and create learning solutions that improve employee performance and engagement
  • Partner with HR and operational leaders to develop onboarding, leadership development, compliance, technical, and professional development programs
  • Establish career learning pathways that support employee growth and advancement
  • Measure training effectiveness and continuously improve programs using feedback and performance data

Instructional Design & Content Creation

  • Design engaging instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced learning experiences
  • Create high-quality training materials including presentations, workbooks, videos, e-learning modules, job aids, infographics, and other multimedia resources
  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to maximize learner engagement
  • Maintain consistent branding and quality across all learning materials

Learning Management System (LMS) Leadership

  • Lead the implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of the organization's Learning Management System
  • Organize learning content, certifications, curricula, and reporting within the LMS
  • Monitor learner progress and evaluate program effectiveness through reporting and analytics
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for learning technologies

Training Delivery & Leadership

  • Facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training sessions for employees and leaders across the organization
  • Coach managers on effective training delivery and knowledge transfer
  • Build strong partnerships with operational leaders to ensure learning initiatives meet evolving business needs
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing

External Partnerships

  • Develop relationships with educational institutions, industry associations, and training vendors
  • Coordinate continuing education, certifications, and specialized learning opportunities
  • Research emerging learning technologies and recommend innovative development solutions

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, instructional design, corporate training, or organizational development preferred
  • Experience in the funeral service industry as a Funeral Director, Location Manager, Regional Director, or similar role preferred
  • Experience administering or implementing a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with experience delivering both in-person and virtual training
  • Experience creating engaging learning content using instructional design or e-learning authoring tools
  • Strong organizational, project management, and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to travel throughout the Northeast up to 33%
