Description
Balance Autism is looking for a Smart Living Remote Support Professional to add to our team in Altoona! This individual is responsible for the following essential duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responds to emergency requests from person's served, and as needed escalates to dispatching of back-up in person staffing.
  • Notifies and coordinates with emergency services when required.
  • Troubleshoots technology issues with remote support systems in the homes
  • Provides ongoing training with technology to persons served to engage them to utilize in-home devices.
  • Monitors wearable devices when individual is away from home, and provides assistance and interventions as needed.
  • Provide in-service training and consultation to person's served and parents on technology, including the use of remote support systems.
  • Provide remote support to individuals remotely throughout assigned region
  • Interacts with the person served with high attention to engagement.
  • Promotes an inclusive environment which fosters respect and dignity within cultural context.
  • Respects the role of family members and/or guardians in planning and providing services.
  • Ensures compliance with all laws, safety rules, and Balance Autism policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify, prevent, and report situations of abuse, exploitation, neglect, and other adverse events.
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation of services.
  • Participates in and attends various meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write. Ability to speak effectively before persons served, inspectors, and/or employees of organization
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Computers Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use trained knowledge of technology programs used by Balance Autism including Payroll and Electronic Medical Record Systems.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Demonstrates reasonable decision making even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Job Knowledge - Requires minimal supervision; displays understanding of how job functions with other team members.
  • Teamwork - Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Diversity - Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; promotes a harassment-free environment.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Proficient knowledge of technology, and possesses ability to navigate multiple technology platforms
  • Be able to work directly from the Altoona, Iowa location
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Current Safety Care Training Certification
  • Current Medication Administration Certification
  • Current and valid driver's license (less than 5 points)
  • Current and valid vehicle insurance coverage

Preferred
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training; to include the areas of smart technology and training/coaching others.
  • Previous experience as a Job Coach, DSP, OTA or Paraprofessional

PHYSICAL/WORK REQUIREMENTS:
  • Will work within the remote support center with varied environments and in a variety of locations in the community
  • This job routinely uses technology that is equipped to assist residents of the home in activities of daily living.
  • This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and faxes
  • Frequent contact and interaction with people receiving services, family, and employees
  • While performing the duties of this position the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
