Job Summary/Company: Sparks Group has partnered with a leading nonprofit healthcare and professional membership organization to identify a strategic and relationship-driven Senior Director, Development. This individual will play a critical leadership role in building and executing a comprehensive fundraising and development strategy while leading and growing a high-performing development team.

Reporting directly to the COO, this position will oversee fundraising initiatives across corporate partnerships, major gifts, individual giving, and grants management, while collaborating closely with executive leadership and the Board. The ideal candidate is an accomplished fundraising leader with experience driving revenue growth, managing teams, and building long-term donor and corporate partner relationships within nonprofit, healthcare, association, or foundation environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute a multi-year fundraising and development strategy aligned with organizational growth goals and revenue targets.
  • Oversee and mentor a growing development team, providing leadership, coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership and Board members on fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and strategic planning efforts.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with corporate sponsors, institutional partners, foundations, and major donors.
  • Oversee development functions including corporate partnerships, grants management, major gifts, and individual giving initiatives.
  • Develop and manage donor pipelines, fundraising forecasting models, KPIs, and revenue tracking processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, membership, communications, and events teams to maximize fundraising visibility and engagement opportunities.
  • Support fundraising activities and organizational presence during annual conferences, meetings, and donor engagement events.
  • Ensure fundraising strategies and operations align with nonprofit compliance standards and organizational policies.
  • Evaluate current fundraising operations and identify opportunities to improve processes, increase revenue, and strengthen development infrastructure.
  • Represent the organization externally with professionalism and executive presence while serving as a liaison to senior stakeholders and Board leadership.

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive fundraising, development, or advancement experience within nonprofit, healthcare, association, foundation, or related environments.
  • Proven success securing major gifts, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and institutional grants.
  • Experience building and managing donor pipelines and diversified fundraising strategies.
  • Previous leadership experience managing and developing direct reports required.
  • Strong executive presence with experience communicating and partnering with Boards and senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated success working within growing or evolving organizations and helping scale teams and fundraising operations.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience overseeing grants portfolios, individual giving programs, and corporate engagement initiatives.
  • Proficiency with CRM/fundraising databases and Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including attendance at annual conferences and organizational events.
