Position Title: ERP Development Lead

Location: Houston, Texas

Assignment Type: 6 month contract to hire

Compensation: $70-$75/hour

Work Schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote (they can choose the remote day)

Position Overview:

  • Our client is seeking a highly autonomous technical resource to assume ownership of their RentalMan ERP environment following the departure of the current Development Lead. This is a business-critical role supporting core operational functions across the organization.
  • The environment is highly customized and supports rental operations, dispatch, billing, asset management, reporting, integrations, and ongoing digital transformation initiatives. The departing employee is currently the only internal technical expert with deep knowledge of the RentalMan platform.
  • This is not a production support or "keep the lights on" position. The organization needs a hands-on developer and application owner capable of understanding existing customizations, supporting ongoing development efforts, exposing business functionality through APIs, and helping drive future automation and AI-related initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Own and support the RentalMan ERP platform

• Manage ongoing enhancements, customizations, and development initiatives

• Analyze existing code and business processes within the AS400 environment

• Develop and maintain RPG-based solutions within IBM iSeries / AS400

• Work with DB2 databases, custom tables, reporting structures, and integrations

• Support API development and integration efforts

• Identify core business functions and expose functionality through callable APIs

• Support digital transformation and business automation initiatives

• Partner with internal application teams, DBAs, offshore developers, and business stakeholders

• Participate in architectural and application-related decision making

• Document existing processes, integrations, customizations, and dependencies

• Assist with knowledge transfer from the departing employee

Required Qualifications:

• Experience supporting and developing within IBM iSeries / AS400 environments

• Strong RPG development experience

• Experience with IBM DB2 databases

• SQL development and troubleshooting expertise

• Experience supporting ERP applications

• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

• Strong troubleshooting and application ownership mindset

• Experience supporting custom integrations, APIs, and business applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct RentalMan experience

• Previous experience with Wynne RentalMan

• Equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or heavy equipment industry experience

• Experience supporting custom ERP implementations

• API and web services development experience

• Salesforce or other enterprise application integration experience

• Experience working with offshore development teams
