As a Claims Technician within the Claims Centralized Operations Group, you will provide critical administrative and operational support to the Claims Organization, primarily supporting Short-Term Disability (STD operations. Claims Technicians are an essential behind-the-scenes team that helps ensure efficient claim handling, accurate processing, and seamless operational support.

The Hartford is committed to your success and will provide ongoing training, coaching, and development opportunities to help you grow in your role and advance your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between departments to resolve issues and support business operations.
  • Utilize active listening and critical thinking skills to analyze and resolve routine and complex work requests.
  • Meet and exceed established deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Facilitate new claim triage and assignment processes.
  • Support business and IT-related project initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal business partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong active listening skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work within a team environment.

  • Ability to perform financial calculations accurately.

Preferred

  • Associate degree or bachelor's Degree.

  • This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, Lake Mary, FL, San Antonio, TX, Las Vegas, NV, Naperville, IL or Scottsdale, AZ) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
